Kanab is on the ariz. boarder between Zion and Lake Powell. about 20 miles from the Corl Pink Sand Dunes. There is a rv park at the Dunes run by the park service full service. also there is a camping area in the north side of the Dunes with rest rooms and tables and water run by the BLM . There is a dry lake that has no facilitys that you can park your trailer and rv at no charge. There are several places to ride besides the Dunes. The dunes are not huge but they are not crouded eather. You need a flag and a helmet for under 18. YOu can get there from Zion park but you have to go through the park, or you can turn off a Hurrican and go to Fredonia AZ. then to Kanab Ut. north 7 mile to the Hancock road and to the Dunes. (any store in Kanab can give you directions.)
Need more information Email me. Bob,in Kanab

Sandneck if you go 1 exit before that, the one that says military area. I work out there it is called UTTR. There is some pretty cool riding there and also in Delle.

Hry Sandneck how do you like those ribbed front dune tires? I'm torn between those and the solid fin. Right now I'm just using stock front tires, but I need better turning. What do you suggest? Thank you.

Out at the military area is where the Air Force stores missile motors. There is a bunch of security and alot of storage buildings. It is actually really cool working out there. It passes the time away.

Anyway thanks for the info on those tires, maybe some time we can get together and do some ridin. Do you ever go up to St. Anthony? I'm going up there next weekend (30 May), there's going to be a bunch of us and our wives going for the weekend. Talk to you later

Actually Sandneck she doesn't ride. She is afraid to get on mine, it is "to fast for me". But she supports me in my riding, which is cool. How was the weather up there last weekend? Was Choke and Devil's Dune nice or was it still to early in the year for a 4 stroke to make it? Thanks again

Sandneck,
Well how was your memorial day? I had to go to my dad's wedding in PA, so I couldn't ride. But I'm going to St Anthony this weekend, I'm getting my Z ready to go tonight. I did have a question for you, I have mine jetted at 132dj, needle position 3. I only have a slip-on exhaust, uni air filter with holes in the lid, and 13 tooth front sprocket. Do you think I should re-jet? Anyway if I don't hear from you before Friday I'll let you know how it was up there. Have a good day.

Toyguy,
I like the mowhawk tires. I have tried the solid rib too. I like the mowhawk because I think the straight fin grabs too much and jerks the bars around. But I do like that you can get them in a 22x8x10, all you can get in the mowhawk is a 21x7x10, so you can get a little better flotation on the bigger tire. Maybe the straight fin with steering stabilizer?
I hate riding at Delle, It seems like I have ridden the whole place in 30 mins.I would rather drive another 20 mins to go to knolls, at least there it seem like it takes you 2 hours to ride the whole place.
Whats out at the military exit?

Chris,
The weather was good, but windy. Choke and Devil's were pretty hard. I didn't make it on my 440, but I just turned around at the bottom and headed up, no run at all and I only tried once. My wifes z400 took me up it, but I got a really good run from all the way down at the bottom.
Man, you need to get her riding. If she supports you now, wait to see what she does when she has her own ride.

Chris,
My Memorial day was cool. We went up tp Currnat Creek, up in the Uintahs. I usually make one good mountain trip a year, the rest of the year at the DUNES! Anyway......... I am not sure what the dj number crosses over to in mikuni, but I ran a 147.5 main and one size down on the pilot ( I can' tremember the number), Either way, it is the same jetting I run down at Jericho, so I would say no, you don't have to rejet. If anything, a small increase on the main would be all that is needed. There is only a 300 foot diference up there (lower).
Have fun,. be careful.

Utah! I love Coral Pink sand dunes...
That place was great.
Albeit its been a few years since I've been (OK - maybe 15 or so). We went up there with a club and put up a new fence and planted some trees and stuff. When I retire - I think it will be somewhere in Utah.

Nice place for ridin' and livin'!

I remember it being near a small town - kanab I believe off of hwy. 89. It is a state park, I think.

It is sort of near bryce canyon, zion (You can go thru zion to get there), and a few other cool canyons.

There is a really nice camping area, no sound after 10pm, and sand riding all day long (pink sand, that is). It is awesome. I would recommend orange tinted lenses for the googles though - help you 'see' in the shadows.
