sand fest???the one in OK im looking for a group to go with...
what dates are you planning on going?

Posted by: yamaha4life

sand fest starts the 13th of sept...how long do you have to register, and do you register to
race?? when does everyone plan on leaving? it takes me about 4 hours taking it easy to
get to the dunes so i would need that much of a head start
what days do you plan on staying?

The tree huggers have been trying to close clayburn for years w/ the sam old munitions stories. I was riding there in the late 70's and all you heard were stories of people hitting land mines.
The place was a POW camp not a war zone.

im from shreveport, and have a raptor, drag banshee, and a rancher
we used to ride in Sibley in the sand pits, and longview the fun wheeler park, the river beds, and the track in benton (although it is closed right now for 4wheelers), track in minden, and monroe. and i just come back from dodridge, arkansas which is about 40 miles from shreveport. they got a few trails and hills and a giant sand bar u can ride on the last weekend of every month. i also go up to waynoka, ok to tha lil sahara state park a lot.

ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT WANT TO GO TO LIL SAHARA!!!
Here's tha deal, Im Cody, and me and my old man are goin up there Sept. 7, thats the sunday, a week before. I have been going up there all my life and i went to last years (the first they had) SandFest. Trust me, anyone thats planning on going up there that Friday, i doubt you will find a spot worth a $hit, or any at all. We'll be camped out in tha motorhome chillin all week waiting on everyone. J Rock, which is 401 and Jason are gonna be coming up there later on in the week and like he said they are gonna keep tha Slolaris and the rest of their bikes at my camp.
Whoever wants to come is welcome. i dont know exactly how much room we will have in our spot.
I'm mainly just going there for the races which i think are gonna be on the 14th. Im gonna call Jim tomorrow to make sure, cause i dont remember.
You can register when you get there the morning of the races. They had a bike & buggy show and i think a swap meet too last year.
I got my banshee tore apart right now, i just sent my tranny and crank to Kip to get override and to get my crank rebuilt. Now i'll be able to hold on and shift without falling off like i almost do everytime.

We will have 2 banshee's a raptor and my XR50
If anybody needs anymore info you can call me at 318-929-3346 TextLIL SAHARALIL SAHARA

Down around houma where I am at it's endless trail riding, but if it rains, well bring plenty of clothes it gets wet.

The spill way just out side of new orleans is pretty much endless, been there so many times and still only seen about 70% of it. Postings of the forrest hills area are already up there, ah, not sure. I know there is a bunch of drag racing and MX tracks between here and mississippi.

Posted by: gaff

The spill way has no camping facillities but is a graet place. Many many things to do. The only problem is they don't have a map so exploring is the only way to find everything.

It's I believe 15000 acres and has a bunch of everything.

As far as forest hills area yes they have camping in the state park. camp claiborne, la dunes and the state park are all rite thier next to each other so you won't have any problem finding camping or riding ares.

I personally love the spill way.

I'm trying to go on sunday.Hope to see you there Highlifter.

For those that are going to Lil Sahara, call this # (405)642-6702.It's a house we rented for Easter weekend. It is very nice compared to the cheesy hotel in town.Ans it is located in a good neighborhood.Very clean place.$ 75 a night split 7 or 8 way's is very cheap, and all you have to bring is your food.Later.

Whos from shreveport/bossier? Where are some good places to ride in Louisiana?

Posted by: Ward660R

Thats too bad. I went there on a trip to LA Dunes and had a good time. Nice place to ride, wish there was something like that around me. The only problem I had with it is when we asked the locals for better directions they looked at us VERY ODD and said something about witchcraft at night.

I have rode in a few different areas of louisiana. Kisatchie forest is good for trail riding, I suggest bringing a four wheel drive there expecially after it has rained. It gets nasty. It is located north of Leesville. An hour and fifteen minutes south of Shreveport. The spillway in New Orleans is a little of everything, any atv is good. La Dunes is a sand pit so a sport bike is real good. It also has some good trails and creeks for four wheel drives. Camp Claybourne is good trail riding and has some spots where four wheel drive is needed. Heard about a place in Carencro, louisiana where alot of atvs go on saturdays for drag racing. Haven't heard much about it, i would like to ride there so if anyone has any info it would help. Besides these main spots there are a few smaller ones. Not many here that i know of, i'm new to the area. If there are any please let me know something.

Thanks for the info Ced. Trying to plan for the October race weekend, at Little Sahara. If all goes well.

i read in the usa today a few days ago about closing camp claybourne due to munitions scattered all over the place . people have been running amuck and veering off the trails someone could really get hurt out there . .

Posted by: shaunonl1

Hey cody I will be there also.....I will have a enclosed trailer with living quarters in the front and would really like to be able to plug up instead of having the Gen plus we don't want to be parked on the road....Is there anyway you can put up a tent in a RV spot, and hold it for us I will get you the money and tent if nessasary before then...We just got back From the July forth trip and it was way to hot to be camped in a tent with no air......Shaun

Caspyy. Just wondering how to get to that place in Dodgeridge, AR. Also, were you referring to a MX track in Benton - how do you get to it? I ride a KDX200 (woods bike but its a 2stroke and has a mono so it jumps ok and it's plenty fast). I've been to Red K in Minden several times and it's cool but it takes about 45 minutes for me to get to it from South S'port. Never ridden on the Red River but I drove there to see where people park to ride and it looks good but there are signs saying to not ride. But I was told the cops say its cool as long as you don't ride in the park. Anyhow, thanks.
