Let's do a little dreaming, and maybe Santa is reading this post:
If someone gave you access to several thousand acres of mountainous land, what would you do to make it into the best ATV area in the country?
If you were going to travel out of state to ride at an area, what kind of facilities would you like to have available to you?
If your local riding area started charging you to ride there, what would they have to do to make it worthwhile? How much would you be willing to pay?
What is the best riding area you have ever visited and what makes it the best?

I agree with everything 250r said with the addition of this. 2 MX Tracks, one open to the public, "beginner" with small jumps but yet something to get air off. No doubles or anything, but tabletops and whoops and stuff. The other one, must have special pass to get access to. A full scale track with nice spaced out doubles and some nice size jumps, possibly banked corners. A few non-AMA sanctioned races just for fun with the locals. If it sounds like I really thought this out, its because ive been thinking about doing it, lol. Dont know yet. Need to look at the old wallet and blow the dust off it, lol. Thanks.

1-Must be close to interstate or major highway
for quick access.
2-Close to fuel station .
3-camping on premises no charge.
4-$25.00 yearly fee max.
5- Motels close by for the non camping groups
6-24 hour Pizza joint with delivery to camp site!
7-Miles of trails with hill climbs and creek crossings, mud pits ,woop sections, rocky ledge
trails,
8-Trails open 24 hours a day,I like night rides.
9-ATV rodeo events on selected weekends for fun
an competition among our fellow brethren.
10-Showers and toilets would be nice!

Everything that 250r4ever said, ditto, With trails like Wayne National Forest (Ohio), tight technical woods with some wide open spaces, right next to dunes like Glamis, with the Rocky Mountains and endless "touch the sky" trails on the other side of the sand. Oh yeah, a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki/Polaris/Arctic Cat parts store open 24hrs with huge stockpile of new tires and tire repair. Man that pizza delivered to the camp sounds awesome!!
Wayne National is the best I've been too, because it has the trails I love with some open spaces to roost and jump on. Of course, some strip mine reclaimed land in Belmont County near the Ohio/West Virginia border was really awesome, but I'm not sure that was legal riding, but it was years ago before I knew any better. HA!
An MX track right next to all the trails would be cool too, where you could pay to race against the clock. Get some bragging rights on your riding buds for the fastest lap time.

Kevin,
We already ride with you, Wally, Charlie, Dog, etc. We know your and Herb's concerns. In Georgia, there are about five State controlled riding areas where you pay $3.00 a day. The places usually have a gravel parking lot, a permanent bathroom structure and a few permanent picnic tables, grills and trash cans. The trails are cut very narrow - just wide enough for atv's but no jeeps or railers. The trails are well marked and many arrows pointing you back to the parking lot (shortest routes in case of emergency). Our only complaint is that these riding areas are usually only about 1500 to 3000 acres in size. You can ride the whole area before lunch. If only some way to have a legal area, narrow trails for atv's only, pay $3.00 to $5.00 per day (instate or out of state), safe parking area, bathroom for the ladies, etc. but the size of Windrock or Ozone or Big South Fork. The problem with Windrock is pickup trucks go up those wide trails and dump trash which makes the landowner mad. I don't think most atv riders mind paying a daily fee as long as they know they are riding in a legal place and their truck/trailer is safe back in the parking area. We are so sorry to see Royal Blue charge that much money. The $75.00 is too much.
