Does anyone know how to get in contact with this family to send them a card? Email me if you do. Thanks, Jason

Posted by: Pfelect

I saw that on the news last night and wondered if that was the place Texmud had told me about, it looked like the pics he has on his site. Thats really a shame, that little boy was probably gonna grow up to be a responsible rider and an asset to atving. Where exactly is Lake Lavon?

Posted by: Pfelect

thanks Tex, maybe I can meet you out therer sometime. JIGA, theres a sign as you enter Rocky Ridge that says only dirt bikes, 3and4 wheelers are allowed to play but be careful, Ive seen an ambulancer and/or Careflite every time Ive been there. I agree though its a cool place to ride

Posted by: Pfelect

Last time I went to Flyin P, we called ahead and he said "we're open 365 days a year" Flyin "P"..(817)-594-6293

Posted by: Jennifer

When are you going to the dunes with us loser! You ought to make a trip to Lake Murray too. It rocks. I guess I better get the shee together first. Later. Jennifer

Posted by: Mr45auto

Just curious guys, I used to live in San Antonio and I was shocked when I found out to go hunting in TX you had to have a lease. Is there any public land to ride quads on or is that a pay as you ride thing too? I know there isnt much public land there but I have heard that you can ride around some of the military posts.

Posted by: ccarpe1

Yes Flying P is open during the week...been there several times during the week and after work in the evenings.

Posted by: ccarpe1

WE are going to the Shady Grove MX track tomorrow Saturday moring. It's in Irving just east of Loop12. It's behind a junk yard. Will be ripping the Raptor around it.

Posted by: ccarpe1

I was there Saturday..that place rocks. Obviously you have not seen my post. I bent my axle out there. Did not case any jumps. I was clearing everything out there including the step up and the table top out front.

Posted by: ccarpe1

Yep, it's over after 28 years. I've got the flyer from Two Wheel World right here. I have heard a couple of different stories now, but I got to believe the guy that runs it is getting to old. He and his wife have been running that thing forever. They are the nicest people you would ever met. I here his son is going to try and farm it? This really stinks.

Posted by: ccarpe1

Still at the shop, Yamaha of Texas. I've been out of town the last several day's and they are closed on Mondays. I am sure I will have to buy another axle. If so, I refuse to put a stock one on it. Shady Grove is cool ah. We've been going out there for the last year are so. The old guy out there Bar-BQ's chicken every weekend for free. I may be on my 400ex this weekend or at least until my Raptor is fixed.

Posted by: gregsims

Larry's land is Northeast of the 591 exit. Just go North of the interstate and turn right on the access road. You will see parking. It is probably not a good place for a raptor. There are some good hills and trails though, but it is mostly mud after a rain. You should bring your raptor to Fun Wheeler Park this weekend. They are having all kinds of races from mud races to drags. They expecy 1500-2000 atvs. There will be a group of people from the forums out there. I will have the first camper on the left as you enter the park. Texas warrior will be in the second. Greg

Ok Tx riders Im back. Been gone a while and now want to go riding worse than ever, havent been able to ride in about a month and a half.
So far Im shooting for a ride on the 23rd or 16th, (prolly the 23rd so my buddy can go as well) of september.
We are going to go to Rocky Ridge in Decatur, TX and I would like for anyone to come and ride with us. I ride a 99 Blaster and my friend rides a 97 Wolverine, we are both 21 (well he just turned 22), and are not experienced riders, hehe, kinda moderate I guess you could say. So anyone that would like to come and just cruise around, have fun and do some hill climbs, little bit of racing, heck just all out fun, even mudding, really fun on my blaster, hehe.
We may camp out but not sure, Saturday we will arrice when gates open till they close, but if we camp we could do some night rides that I have never got to try.
Ive tried to meet some of yall before but with no luck, prolly have met some but me didnt know, heh.
So again this is on the 23rd of September, we are both moderate riders, there is only a couple of hills I attempt on my lil Blaster, the rest im a chicken, heh, and some jumps I do, ( dont get much air but I jump a little, and crash a little too, heh) and some mud pits we get into later in the day, just overall fun time.

Im pretty sure we will go on the 23rd, almost positve and not on the 16th, I will keep updates.

Ps: When we do get there, we park near the lake/pond whatever you want to call it, by the road. We are in a 00 Dodge Ram with trailer, green wolverine and white blaster.
Hope to see some of you there.

Grisby, heck ya its better than Flying P, (in my opinion) much bigger, more hill climbs, but not as much of a track there, mostly hills, flats rocky terrain, hard pack, sand, plains grass, and hehe some cows to chase and a bull that tried to outrun my blaster, lmao. Went to talk to my friend today and he wasnt sure if he is going to go, BUT I AM definatly going, no matter what, heh, just gotta find a truck now. It will be cool to ride with some new people, but your gonna blow me away on the shee. Hope ta see you there! (will update as the date gets closer)

Posted by: JIGA

Rocky Ridge is a place for everyone, lots of different terrain to ride on, and yes, no set track, just have to be on the look out. I didnt hear about the 8 year old, what a awfull thing for their family, so sad. Not sure what they will do with restrictions now, there are always wrecks there, that goes with the dangers of riding ATVs/Bikes. They say just about every weekend there is a wreck, just about and a few I have seen at Flying P as well. One nasty wreck in paticular sent chils up my spine, thats why im a very cautious rider and dont really hill climb that much. Well I still hope to see some of you out there on the 23rd. Cya (edit) I just read the news on the child, and said he was hit by a buggy.....no offroad trucks/buggys are allowed at Rocky Ridge, right? I coulda swore that only dirtbikes and atvs were allowed?

Posted by: JIGA

Grisby.. Nope dont know anyone going out this weekend to the "P" both of my friends wrecked their dirtbikes (hehe) and I have to work this Saturday for some overtime, but I am definatly going on the 23rd to Rocky Ridge. Pfelect.. Ya I know of the sign but was wondering what a buggy was doing out there? hmm, been riding there about 6 or 7 times and have never seen anything else but dirtbikes, threewheelers, and quads riding aroudn, but you do have to watch out for the vehicles coming in hauling their machines. One time me and my friend came real close to hitting a truck coming down the road to the lake, we were flying up the hill as he was coming down, pretty close call but since we were going up hill+brakes slowed us down enough, still pretty scary.

Posted by: JIGA

Grisby, yes Flying P is open on the weekdays (I think) well im pretty sure they are anyways. DFW, I have no clue where Larry's is, sorry best thing you can do is find a number there or the closest highway to it and go from there. PS: I NEED A TRUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone buy my 97 Dodge Avenger, hehe, hope to trade it in real soon.

Posted by: JIGA

I got off work Friday and my friend Stacy had to do something else so we couldnt hook up, I TRIED SO DAMN HARD TO GET A TRUCK, but no luck till around 2pm, by that time I was tired since I work a 3rd shift at work. I was going to go out to Flying P by myself since I had nothing else to do, but since I couldnt get a truck in time I just said "forget it". Well I hope next Saturday hurrys the heck up.

Posted by: JIGA

Everything is still scheduled to go this saturday coming up, if I have to go by myself I have a truck that my father-inlaw will let me use. :) May be old and crappy but it will get me there. September 23rd 8am-till when I get tired, usaully 8pm hehe, all day ride.

Posted by: JIGA

I still need tons of practice till I start getting big air or ever moderate air for that matter, heh, I think the biggest I have got is about 7-10 feet in the air straight verticle from a dugout at Rocky ridge, went up then last 3 feet was vert, and boy did I launch, didnt land to well either, heh.

Posted by: JIGA

Ok guys heres the update so far. Saturday, 23rd. I might be with some friends, they all ride dirtbikes (ugh). If I come with them, then we will be in a Z-71 (dont know what color, havent seen it yet, he just got it, should have a FOX sticker on back) or a grey ford pickup with chrome rail on front. If I do not come with them, then I will be in a old Dodge Ram (nice-ole father-inlaw) its grey as well. The dirtkikes are a 00 Yamaha 250 (blue) 00 Kawasaki 125 (green) and my 99 blaster (white&red). Hope ta see ya out there, and my friend Eric may come as well, not sure, he rides a 97 Wolverine (green), his truck is a 00 Dodge (red)

I wouldn't mind going to Flying "P" this saturday for like 4-5 hours...probably early around 7am or so...Have to be home around 4 or so...or I may go to Greenville for the TQRA races...I might race in that begginers class they just started...but I would have to take my pipes off. Posted by: mgrigsby22

I know you can ride at Ft. Hood in Kileen...Also you can ride at places that the Core of engineers own like Marshall Creek on Grapevine Lake...and this place in Denton...but mostly the good places are privately owned. 99 Yamaha Banshee FMF Fattys pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter, blue shockwears http://www.geocities.com/mgrigsby21/ (Not yet completed)

Posted by: mgrigsby22

I've never been out to the place in Denton but I saw some of the pictures on the news were that kid got killed and it looked like my kind of terrain. Have they restricted the riding out there as of yet? Would be nice to go ride out there. 99 Yamaha Banshee FMF Fatty Pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter, blue shockwears. http://www.geocities.com/mgrigsby21/ (Not yet completed)

Has anyone ever been out to the Shady Grove track off of loop 12 in Irving? I saw that ccarp was going to take his raptor out there Sat. I went there yesterday for the first time and I had a blast...I hit that one jump at the front in 4th gear WFO...I caught more air than ever imaginable..There was like 7 other banshees out there and a couple of blasters...a ton of dirtbikes...That place is open 7 days a week...I'm going to be hitting that place a lot more frequently probably twice a week. If anyone wants to go I can meet you out there whenever you want....very nice track for quads...very smooth. 99 Yamaha Banshee, FMF Fatty pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter, blue shockwears

Posted by: mgrigsby22

ccarpe did you go out to Shady Grove Saturday? How did the raptor run? I went Sunday for the first time...that place is very good. 99 Yamaha Banshee, FMF Fatty, Power core 2, K&N filter, yellow maier racing fenders, blue shockwears.

Posted by: mgrigsby22

ccarpe have you taken your raptor to the dealership to see if your warranty covers your bent axle? There is no way I would try that step up out front. I could clear that table top out front though. I would hit it in 4th gear WFO and launch over it. When are you going to go out there again? Let me know I would like to meet you out there. 99 Yamaha Banshee, FMF Fatty's, Power Core 2, K&N filter, blue shockwears, yellow maier racing fenders.

Posted by: mgrigsby22

Is anyone going out to the track off of Shady Grove and Loop 12 (Irving) this weekend? I was wanting to go out there on Saturday near the evening sometime...does anyone want to meet me out there? They have some sweet jumps for a 4-wheeler... 99 Yamaha Banshee, FMF Fatty pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter, blue shockcovers http://www.geocities.com/mgrigsby21/ still in the works but should be completed this weekend if I get more pics.

Posted by: mgrigsby22

JIGA i don't think I'm going to be able to make it out there this weekend...too far...and have alot of school work to do. Have you ever been out to Shady Grove? If not, your going to have to go out there sometime...you'll love it! I might go out there early Sunday morning, close to home and it's suppose to be only 76 degrees. 99 Yamaha Banshee, FMF Fatty pipes, Power Core 2 silencers, K&N filter, blue shockwears http://www.geocities.com/mgrigsby21/ not yet completed

I heard they shut-down Flying "P"!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else heard this? I couple of friends of mine went out there this past weekend and supposibly the older lady that runs it fell down and got hurt...so she will not be able to run it anymore....Last weekend was the last weekend!!!!! Hey guys! I am a big fan of the Denton place, but on Saturday there was an accident there. A 8 year old child died. The story is here: http://www.dallasnews.com/metro/167305_dirtbike_11met.html. I have a feeling they will start getting strict about that place.

Posted by: TEXMud

The Denton place is pretty cool. It has stuff for everyone. Lots of trails and lots of hills and jumps. I ride mud so the trials are a blast for me. But the sport riders have fun in the hills. The hills are where the child was killed. They are very dangerous. When my dirt biking friends want to play I will usually go to the top of a hill and tell them when its safe. I do not feel comfortable at all in those hills. There is no set track or anything, just a bunch (hundreds) of hills. Many of the hill have paths from 4-5 angles meeting at the top. I have some pics of the area on my site. http://www.ansley.net I am not sure what they have done with the area. I have not been in 2 weeks. I have actually found a better place out at Lake Lavon that has more trails and such. I am very hesitant to go back to Denton since it is private property, and there is no way to tell where this land owner's land ends or begins. We had always been told it was army core of engineers land but that was obviously wrong.

Posted by: TEXMud

Pfelect, that was teh place I told you about. Lake Lavon directions are on my site. Very cool place. Just north of Lake Ray Hubbard.

Posted by: TEXMud

JIGA, remember the accident was not at Rocky Ridge, but at the Denton place on 380. I do see buggies there every once and a while.

Posted by: TEXMud

Dont know how to get there. You may want to do some searching for TxDoc2. He lives out there and can surely tell you how to get there. Is that the same as Fun Wheeler Park? If so then I dont think it is good for sport riders?? You may want to ask him.

Posted by: TEXMud

From Dallas/Ft. Worth take 35E or 35W north trough Denton. Exit HY 35, at Sanger, exit #478. Turn left on to FM 455. Stay on FM 455 until you come to FM 51. Turn right on FM 51 Go 2- 3 miles, the riding area is on the left. There is a sign for the Ranch by the road, and you can see motorcycle tracks coming out of a gravel pit down by the road.

Posted by: aggromoose

some of my friends have a track called THE SECRET PLACE just east of wichita falls. They redid it since I moved but I guess there is some big ones. Its a little of a jog for you guys to come up there . let me know so I can make sure there is some people out there and have food and drink for ya.

Do any of you Texas riders know how to get to Larry's Land in Longview? I found in it on the www.txmud.com site for East Texas. I'm going to be close to that part of Texas and would like to take my raptor out there. I know it is off I-20 by the Sabine river but I don't know where Larry's place is. How do I get to his house to park? Thanks.

Posted by: alexm

Have they reopened the riding at FT. Hood? They had closed it down ealier this year because of some little bird's habitat.

Posted by: ag86

Go to Bulcher (north of Munster). It is on the Red River. Has about 3500 acres. Everthing from water to hills, sand, open areas, etc. This is a much more aggressive area to ride for the intermediate to experienced person. Lots of dirt bikes. Great hard to follow winding trails made by the bikes.

Posted by: FKNA

I don't know of anything around San Antonio, but there's plenty of places to ride at in Texas. Go to www.txmud.com to find places to ride in your area. That's how I have found places around Houston and so far I have NOT been disappointed.

Posted by: FKNA

Could someone please shoot me an e-mail with directions to Denton and Rocky Ridge. I would like to check these areas out. Thanks.

Posted by: FKNA

ATTENTION HOUSTON RIDERS!......I'm looking for places to ride around the Houston area. I know about Hwy 242 and San Jacinto, Cypress Creek in Spring and Old Hwy 90 and San Jacinto. I'm looking for something closer to my side of town for those "quick fixes". I live Hwy 6 and Westheimer area. So if anyone knows of anything around south Hwy 6 or maybe out I-10 Katy way, etc. Let me know. Thanks.
