On most Honda ATV's and power equipment you don't screw the dipstick in to take an oil reading, you just set it on the threads. I've had motorcycles that specified that the dipstick be fully seated to check oil, so look at the owner's manual for the particular machine.
When people talk about jetting, they are talking about orifices in the carburetor that control the fuel/air ratio. Jets are generally round theaded brass parts that can be had with different sized orafices so that the carb can be set up to deliver proper fuel/air mixture for a modified engine, or for a particular altitude.

i have never known this in the long time that ive rode quads, and i guess it's time i find out. when your checking the oil on an atv when you put the dipstick down the check hole do you screw it in? also what is jetting? i've heard of it, but i don't know what it is or does

well i don't have an owners manual for it. does anybody know where i can look at one for a 88 honda fourtrax4X4? i need to get oil in it so i can sell it
