I am using a older Magellan Gold model..It works well..It has excellent maps..Even for NS Canada. It's shows a lot of the old roads that are now just trails.
I got the package deal ,the map software came with the GPS..A friend bought a Garmin E-trex about the same time and we compared them and his maps weren't as detailed as mine also his lost connection alot and left gaps in the trail...This was a few years ago not sure how the newer ones compare..Mine takes AA battery's...I just carry extra in case they get low ..the new one have a dedicated battery so you need to charge it if it get low, hard to do if your out on the trail !!
I don't know what I would do without my GPS..we are traveling a lot of new trails and it would be easy to get lost . Later I download the tracks to my computer and view it that way..Love my GPS

I have a Vinson 500. Does anybody have a GPS they ride with? I am going to buy one, and was wondering which is your favorite.

I just started looking into one. Thanks for the info. Do you go to Magellan to get the maps?

I give another vote to Magellan, i have the Explorist 300. It has a compass, weather, temperature, and built in maps and roadways, and alot more. I love it!
