My only guess would be the idle speed is too high. You must have left it in gear, and got off?
The centrifical clutch starts to engage at about 1600 rpm, so the idle must be higher than that.

As outside temperatures move around, the place the choke offers an increase in idle speed will vary. On a warm day, if the choke is on full, the motor will be too rich, and choke and die.
In fact , thats one of the ways to check the chokes operation, to see if its working correctly.....warm day, warm motor, at idle,go full choke, the motor should die.
Just set the choke position where it offers the highest idle, or just start riding.

man you stumped me on that one

It could be a million things wrong, just isn't enough info there to do much with. Sounds like you need to do some digging before that thing leaves you stranded or worse

iight so i was riding today and i rode around for only bout an hour in the woods by my house and i turn off my quad for a minute to talk to my friend. i turn it back on and all the sudden my quad starts moving all by itself at like 10mph. idk how or wat i did, and i was wondering if u guys kno how to fix it. thnx in advance.

o yea and one more thing.... wen i was riding it it made a big pop sound coming from my pipe. last time i heard that sound from my pipe it was because a wire was touching the pipe and wen it got hot the wire got hot and it blew afuse and made a big popping noise. anyways... it made the same sound today as the time with the wire. i hope that helps sumhow.

dude... i was thinkin bout that too today during school and was gunna ask u guys if its possible that my choke is still on. thnx for the reply. ill check it out right now to c if mabe that was the problem kuz i did use the choke before i went riding to warm it up and mabe by accident i didnt turn it off all the way.

omg, i cant beleive this. wat a stupid mistake! i just went itno my garage to check it out and my choke was not fully off. wow, wat a stupid thing to do, haha. well.... thnx for the help guys, but i have one more question..... i rode it with the choke on for bout 10 minutes kuz i had to get home and i didnt notice that it moved by itself untill i got onto my driveway. did i damagae anything by doing that?

Posted by: Grizzman42

ok welll...... i rode it today and everything seemed fine except for the choke. wen i put it on a little or half-way it worked fine but then wen i pulled it all the way it wouldnt work as well. i dont think its a problem but im just pointing it out.

Posted by: Grizzman42

ok here it goes...

u kno how wen u turn ur choke on ur engine runs faster and faster and faster. well today it was bout 35 degrees and i turned on the choke to warm up my quad. i noticed that wen i turned the choke alllllllllll the way on the engine would not run as fast as if i had the choke half or 3/4 on. it would work good except for wen i pulled it on all the way.

thnx for the help.

o really? i never knew that. thnx guys. i thought the choke should always run fastest wen its all the way on. well, theres another thing i learned, lol.

As long as it starts and runs your ok.....only thing you would have done was foul your plug.

explain yourself better......when you pull it all the way do you mean all the way on? or off?
when you say not working as well do you mean your quad runs bad?....or wont keep running?
How cold is it where you are?

Thats normal......you only need full choke to start......once mine is running I move the choke back to ½ so the fast idle will keep it running until its ready to go.
