There was a thread about this topic some time ago on one of the forums, can't remember which one. The original poster had taken a small car muffler and, using copper plumbing fittings, added it to his quad behind the original muffler. He had built brackets that hooked to the rear rack and held the added muffler crossways and under the rack. Made a good looking setup and he said the loudest noise from the quad was that transmitted thru the block of the engine.

I ask my cousin, who operates a parts store, to find me a really small muffler that would fit as required but his books showed nothing, other than straight thru types, that would fit well. Had kind of forgotten about this project but may have to look into it again.

I did add a car muffler to the exhaust on my pull behind mower, makes that project a lot more pleasent.

If you find anything that works well let us know, I will do the same.

I am considering adding an aftermarket exhaust to my Vinson, as I do quite a bit of plowing after dark, and want to be considerate of my neighbors (that comes with age LOL).

I am familiar with Stealth and Kolpin. I would think that there would be a less expensive solution than those two manufacturers. I am good at fabricating adapters and mounting brackets, so I was wondering if anyone has tried a muffler from the local parts store? Any appropriate info would be appreciated.

tencubed, thanks for your reply.

Hopefully, your cousin will find an appropriate muffler. I will do some more checking as well.
