Well, there are allot of things that are different in for example the 660 Raptor and the 660 Grizz. The auto trans is good for about a 20% power drop over the Gear on gear manual trans. The weight is also a significant power damper but more important the unsprung weight of the wheels and tires used on the machines. The Grizz uses a much larger and heavy 25" tire. There are allot of fokes that compound that issue by adding even larger heavy sidewall mud tires. Stock tires on a utility vs heavy mud tires on a utility can drop a 4x4 as much as 10 to 15% of power between the 2. Shaft vs chain drives also are a cause of power loss and 4x4's have the added drag of the front drive system.

No, not at all you still have shafts and 2 of them at that. The other problem is the gearing or pulleys if you will are all wrong for 20" tires Your kodiak would likely loose a great deal of performance by going to 20" tires. I tried some paddels I had left over from my v-force on a prairie of mine it ran better with nobby's than the short 22" paddels. I now run some very light 25" paddels that has made a word of difference.

I don't know of any direct crossover engines. I think the raptor/grizzly and the KFX700/P700 are close but there are a lot of differences. Even if the engines were the same mechinically they would tune the Ute for more bottom end with ignition mapping and exhaust set ups.

What is the difference between utility and sport quad engines like when a utility has the same engine as a sport quad but the utility is alot slower Is it because the utility is hevier???
Thanx
