We just use the Motorolas. They work good for short distances.

When out riding, we use the Motorola FRS. Iif we need to, we have a cell phone as a back up. That is, if you can get a signal. Been known to get a signal out of Renowhile standing in the California Sierras.

i was thinking of that to. ive put a mobile in all of my cars and i have a base in the house. and i was thinking of brining a mobile with me and ride to the top of a mountain and shoot the sh!t up there.

yea, i just ordered a new imax 2000 24ft 5/8 wave antenna and a galaxy saturn base station (960 channel) for 200 bucks. the radio is already tuned and with the antenna 40 ft in the air i can reach from my house in mass to anywere in the usa and once a guy in argentina with a 96 ft antenna and once a guy in alaska. the radio is awsome.
