Kodiak 450. You better be ready to buy 2 though, otherwise you will be fighting over who gets to ride it.

My preference is always for the lighter/smaller machines. If she must have an automatic, try the Honda Rancher 400AT. It has selectable 2wd/4wd. The Rancher 350 transmission comes only in an autoclutch format. It can be fitted with a Warn 424 to make it selectable 2wd/4wd.

Unfortunately, the larger machines tend to have the plushest suspensions.

I was just going to post the same question .
I'm currently the highest bidder on a quad on Ebay XL 150cc Scorpion ATV Fully Auto 4 $350.00.
It's nothing fancy just something to ride around the yard and bring the kids out on the trails every now and again,
has anybody herd of this quad ??
Thanks

I ride with a couple that have polaris's...they dont like the kind of water we got through. Good machine dont get me wrong but the laws of nature say get a belt wet and its slip city
Posted by: kadotajerry
Could be, but the guy who owns them is a mechanic at a polaris dealership and neither his 400 or 500 sportsmans like the water ive towed em both home several times with my eiger

Polaris 400 Sportsman....that's what my wife rides.
Independent Rear Suspension for the cushy ride, lots of power but not overly excessive, all the bells and whistles on board and NO SHIFTING at all!

He must be a pretty exceptional mechanic.

Sportsman 400 would be a good pick for the lady.
1) Not to powerful but will get the job done.
2) Soft cushy ride, won't hurt her a$$.
3) very safe ride beens it is 4x4.
4) Big fenders-she won't get too dirty.
5) Its easy to ride, put in high & hit throttle. ( DOesn't have all of the different buttons & levers to push like Hondas & other bikes.
6) + it is a Polaris

my freinds mom accross the streat rides a 400 sportsman and she kicks ass! she muds and she loves it she rode her sons outlander and sed it wasint right so she got back on the 400 since she liked it so much her husband just had to buy the new 800EFI, what a coinsedence?
Posted by: silverbullet2005
for starters my wife and I have two 04' 700EFI's and love them. they are not water tight though as you said, there is a vent tube on the top of the clutch cover that goes under the gas tank/front fender plastic and if you hit a water pit/mud pit to hard or to fast water usually comes in through that vent tube causing the belt to get wet and slip. I don't know why you would tow them home though, usually you can just pull the clutch cover drain plug to let the water out and your on your way again. The water intrusion issue is probably one of the only things I don't like about my polaris, I am thinking of making a snorkle for that tube so I can go in the deeper water without getting water in that tube.
I rode with a Yamaha Kodiak this past weekend and It went through just as much as my 700EFI, I think it was a 400 or 450 kodiak. I would stick with either the yamaha or the polaris models though.

LOL kadotajerry. Must be something wrong with their seals. The Polaris system is sealed to prevent water intrusion. No problem with running well under water.

I'd suggest the Kodiak 450. I bought one for my wife and she loves it, for that matter so do I. I try not to take it but do sometimes when I go wtihout her. She's small only 5'2" and has no problems with it. She had previously never hidden and now she hitting the mud holes, climbing over stone walls and anything else I through at her. Which ever way you go have her try it out first. Good Luck with what ever you pick they are all good machines these days.

IMO it's what you want cause chances are you'll use it more. Every xmas my wife tends to get a new torgue wrench, new ratchet set, ect,,,,,,, . You get the point. lol

It depends on if she wants a automatic or manual shift quad and type of riding trail, mud, soft sand, etc. and how heavy a machine she can handle. It also depends how serious she is about riding and how often she can go, as to how much to spend and if you should buy new or used. I had similar situation with my wife when I bought snowmobiles.
