Dirt devils are a pretty good choice I have them on my polaris. They have worn really well (slowly) and arent very expensive. I just put Maxxis Sur-traks on my Wolverine the traction is great but I dont know about the wear. Seems like they are pretty tough so far though.

What do you ride in or on?? I just bought some new Maxxis Bighorn radials, they look like they should be OK for what we do.

I like the 26 inch Dirt Devils. They're usually a little cheaper than the Mud Lights. They're not too heavy and good for all types of terain.

Prong, do you have the XT's or the AT's? I'm really lookin at the 26" XT's. They look to be a good allround tire, and grip pretty well in the mud too. Plus, I think they look better than Mudlights.

I went to the tire shop today:

4 26" DirtDevils.....$160
4 26" Mudlights......$240

It looks like the Mudlights might hookup better in the mud, but I think that the DirtDevils will do well for me, especially for the $$$$$$.

Yeah local tire shop. They pretty much sell in volume. My buddy bought a set of 26" Zillas on Itp C-series rims for a little less than $700.
He priced me a set of Gillett Kodiak ATs 31x10.50 $340.

Yeah they were the 26" XT's The deep lugs for $160

I run 26" Dirt Devils and they're exceptional in the snow. We had a blizzard about 10 days ago here, and I was cruising through 18" or so of heavy wet snow without *any* problems at all. I've tried them in mud and they do pretty well there too.

I have the XT's. Unless something has changed within the last 6 months, all DD's from 26" and up are the XT's (1 1/4" tread). I think they're pretty hard to beat for a general purpose tire.

I have bear claws on the rear of my Rancher 2x4. Very happy with them. 6 ply with rim protector. My friend has dirt devils...seem like a good tire, but he has had 2 flats in a few months. No flats with the bear claws. They are a huge improvement over stock. Mudlites get alot of hype, but I have no experience with them. Good luck with the purchase. Check out RIDETHERED.COM. They did a test on the bear claws.

PS. Bear Claws have a flat tread profile. Mudlites are more rounded.

I understand that the ITP ATR's work very well in snow. One problem expressed with aggressive mud tires is that they tend to dig down into deep snow. Radials also tend to ride better. I have the same question on tires for going from hard pack (fire roads) to trails (roots & rocks) with some mud (but not deep, sticky clay crap, just general mud).

Need some input on new tires for my Suzuki Eiger........question: Trying to decide between the Kenda Bear Claw and the ITP mud lite with the new tread pattern.....what do you think ?
Thanks.

I'm running the forests of the Pacific NW.....Oregon.
This Eiger is used in Search and Rescue......snow is the biggest obstacle. Believe it or not, the stock tires have done an excellent job......1600 miles, no flats (slimed) and has out-performed some of the big Cats and Grizzly's with after market, very aggressive tires. The lighter weight may have helped me here.

Thanks to all for the input........I had not heard of the Dirt Devils but with all the replies, I'm sure going to check them out.
I did notice that a friends Bear Claws .....26" measure 24" to the top of the tread.....and my old factory 25" Dunlops measure .....25" !
I need to be careful about increasing the diameter due to a power consideration.....its a 400 Eiger, so I'm not inclined to increase tire size........I'm not sure how to size the Bear Claws, should I go that direction.

Windmill......thank you sir !.........I will be taking a good hard look at these.

HollyWood go with the ITP Holeshot ATR. If you liked your stock tires you will love these! Like RidinLCWA said Radials are the way to go especialy if you riding trails and want the best control for your machine. They also work great in snow! All the mudlites and Claws are fine but not as smooth and tend to tear up trails more, etc. They also arn't radials so you lose some traction that way and they tend to wear faster than radials.

The ATR's are also a light tire so you won't lose any horsepower plus they are 6ply to help guard against holes in the tires.

itp 589's. you can get them at a website for 60 bucks a piece, without rims.

That seems like a really good price, bigbamaboy. Is that at a local tire shop or online somewhere? I haven't been able to find the 26" Dirt Devils for much less than $70 per tire online. Are those the X/T with the extra deep lugs?
