The best way would be to take the front wheels off and unbolt the caliper and slide off the rotor. check the pad thickness. If the fronts need to be done just do the front and back together at the same time. on a scale of 1-10 I would say it is about a 6-7 on your first because you do not know what you are doing but one you do one it is only about a 2.

How do you know when to change out the brake pads? Since this is my first atv I have never changed any out before. Right now I have about 400 miles on my bigbear. The reason I'm asking is here latly they squeek a little when braking at low speeds. My riding habits are very modest. I use it everyday but mostly to do chores and a ride to and from my barn. I have dual disc in front and drum in back. Also how hard is it to change on a scale 1-10??

Thanks in advance!

i have a 2004 bigBear 4x4 and i also get a squeek in the front and back brakes. I was told this is normal, and not to worry about it. I also am starting to notice CRACKS in the bottom of my engine, and this worries me. does yours have cracks? thanks!
