I have a 1999 Polaris Xplorer 400 with 10,600+ miles on it right now. I don't think it ever has had more than 40 or 50 miles put on it in one day, lots of short trips mostly. Checking cows and irrigation systems mostly, and pulling a trailer full of fencing supplies.

Your mileage will depend on a ton of factors, so that's tough to say. You didn't provide enough info for any tangible estimate.

I have a 02 grizzly 660, my longest ride was last winter (212 miles on a Saturday). Filled up about 5 times. I ALWAYS carry extra gas.
Had a gas rack made for me by a member here for $100. Also have the Moose Trapper trunk on my front rack, which carries 2-1.5 gallon gas cans (they come with the trunk) and some tools, gloves for winching, etc. nice setup IMO.

On my grizzly, with the way I beat the tar out of it while riding, I get about 20 MPG. My tank, with reserve is just around 5 gallons, but whenever we ride, if I can fill up somewhere, I do it (hence the 5 fillups on my 212 mile ride). I don't EVER wanna be out in the woods of Northern Wisconsin or Minnesota in the dead of winter, and run out of gas. Not my idea of fun, and not acceptable in my book.
If your wheeler breaks, that's one thing....not being prepared is just plain stupid and easily avoidable.

Bring gas, tools, complete change of dry clothes, first aid kit, tow strap, duct tape, matches and a compass. Mandatory in my book.

Good Luck.

Ok someone else can do the math....
Longest trip is 2,064 km in ten days. (accross newfoundland turnaround and went back)
Highest milage is 24,000km on my 400 kvf although my kvf 650 is getting close.
Longest day trip is 480km in 20 hours of continous biking... that day we travelled on some really rough trails and some fast ones too.

A little over 4850 miles, logest ride in one day, 128 miles. We will buy a new quad when this one had 10,000 miles on it. So far I have spent a total of $11.90 on worn out parts and just replaced our second right floorboard. And the skid plates are next, they are trashed.

The engine has made a lot of different little noises over the years, I quit listening to them. They change, but are never loud enough to worry about. Our Rubicon runs better than it did when it was brand new. It flys, but then it has Wings.

The 128 miles was put on it riding a section of the Piaute Trails from Marysvale to Koosharem and a few side trails in-between, nice ride. Have done several 100+ miles in one day, and had several rides that take all day and only travel 15-20 miles.

ATV's are great.

My 2003 Eiger now has 3300km and my other Eiger has 1100km. The longest ride has been just over 100miles. Make sure that you bring extra clothes, gas, tools, some snacks (MMM!!). It is also a good idea to buy some liquid foam. If your tire goes flat you can spray this foam inside it to get you home. Now that I am going to school I am not home to ride my quad too much, man do I miss it!!! For all of the people on this forum, ATVing will probably stay with you your entire lives. If it is something you love, keep on riding!

I would like to poll you guys and gals on your mileage. That'll help me figure how long I can expect this wheeler to go! I'm sure it will last me quite a few....And have you ever taken a real excursion that was more than just an afternoon ride (unless it was a really interesting ride) I would love to hear your stories!img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0">

Ive got 1800 miles on my grizzly but i think its less because of how much wheel spin where i ride, lol

Posted by: NLWarrior01

I've got just over 4000km on my Warrior (2500 miles) and the longest continuous trip I made (keep in mind there WERE break stops) was 240km (150miles)

i think around 1800

No real long rides yet, but I have over 5,800 miles on my Rubi.

I don't know how many miles are on my recon, I can't even imagine, but a wide gues-ta-mate would be 15 to 20 thousand miles range because there has been weeks on end where it would be rode every day. It has slacked off over the past 6 months because I got my drivers licence so I have been working alot.
As for my longest ride would have to be 25-30 miles, not alot but it was about an all day ride, but my dream vacation would to pack lots of gas, a tent, some extra clothes, some spam, my axe, zippo, fishing pole and gps and head out not knowing where I am going with just my gps to tell me how to get back after about 3 weeks of riding.

Oh yeah I would have to bring my camera to show everyone here I had been and for all the sweet memories they would bring.

I only have 49 miles on my Prairie 700 right now. I just boght it a couple of weeks ago and haven't had a chance to take it anywhere yet.

The longest ride I have ever done was on my last utilty ATV, a 2004 Grizzly, and I rode 206 miles in one day on the Paiute ATV trail in the mountains of Utah.

Nice. Keep riding. 128 miles is a lot. You could have crossed through most of a state! Does the sound of your motor change when it warms up? They seem like kind of " tickey" motors. I can hear a lot of parts moving. Is your motor kind of loud? I always listen very carefully to engine noise when I first ride a new machine.

I was thinking of average use...like moderate trail riding, the occasional jump, the occasional once a year bar-bender crash, the get- it stuck in muck here and there need a winch-out, or fly through some big puddles now and then. Not like the impossible hill-climber every weekend, and not full throttle everytime. Just good, solid use...
As for as supplies, right on for the gas cargo; sounds hardcore. Retro-rackin and all! Cool. My survival kit always includes gas, protein powder, fire starting items -(various) ,compass, cream of wheat (just add water) Tools (duh) iodine tablets, fruit leather, a knife, wire, tin foil folded flat and small for an unfoldable giant signal mirror, fish hooks and about 25 feet of fishing line, and other stuff depending on whether or not im on a 2-stroke dirt bike or a quad.

First! "Peace through superior firepower" and " The Second Amendment: You dont need it until they come to take it away" true things.
Yeah, the noises are always irrelevant if it always runs. Thanks for the feedback.

I have a 02 Bombardier Traxter XT, have 3000 Miles on it total now, have not changed anything either, except gas and Oil.
My longest trip was 188 miles or 300 Km's in 1 day, long tour but really fun. Ran out of gas at 127 miles before reserve on 5 gallons of gas. Proably the best machines on fuel thats forsure.

Im not sure what my highest mileage is on one of my quads but I have gone for week long trips riding the whole time except when we camped at night...It's a blast

Posted by: MNWolverine01

Total miles, I would not now where to start guessing since I have no gauges. Miles in one day would be between 100 and 125. Probably the most fun ride of the year is when we host our "Wild Game Feed" at our hunting shack, it is 16 years running every august. Last year there was 88 wheelers and 100+ people that went for the ride. The ride is 50 to 75 miles with a very nice lunch part way though.

I only have 350 miles on my 03'. Bahahahah I only use mine at the deer lease and cleaning horse stalls everyday and to dump the poo. At my deer lease I would say 25 miles off and on in one day tracking dead deer, unloading a hunter or two and scouting. I can get 65 miles out of a tank of gas without going to (res).

I think my bear may be in good shape when I plan to sell and upgrade.......

PS) Nice stories people keep it up
