You can do it by revving the engine up a little, and hitting the shift button. You need to have your weight on the back and you will have to replace an actuator and auto trans in the near future, but it can be done.

You cant free rev it, but it will go into gear above idle.

I agree with CBR310, if you want to wheelie get a machine that is made for it.

While I'm sure it's possible and there are many tricks to doing it, a wheelie on a Honda Rancher 4x4 is just not going to be very fun at all. I've been around Hondas all my life and the only utility worth wheeling is probably the Rincon or, believe it or not, a Recon. I own a Rubicon with a 424 and I just face facts; it's not a wheelie machine by any means. Even after you do get the front end up, the balance point probably sucks so you can't hold it very well because Honda front ends just feel very heavy. In the same sense, by trying to keep that heavy front end up and not wanting it to go back down, you may flip yourself over which makes it a dangerous maneuver either way in my opinion. Wait until you get your YFZ and then wheelie to your heart's content.

Probably a good call........why not a 450R

Posted by: RedGoblin

ave you ridden one? They have just as much power as a YFZ, but a smoother powerband which would just be better for GNCC.

Well I would argue that now that they have a CRF450X with the magic button, you could adapt that starter to the 450R. However, I can see you're pretty much set on the Yamaha. Good luck with your racing.

Trade it for a Prairie 700 or BruteForce 750, and soft pression on the throttle does it!BR>Or put a lots of weight on your rear rack, hoping it will lift. For a wheelie, you need a light front end and engine power.

I agree with quadduck. My friends 2x4 rancher will wheelie....but thats a big difference from a 4x4 rancher.

Posted by: quadduck

You'll need some help first off it is full time 4x4 which means 2 things, a heavy front end and a front end that wants to pull you forward and not upwards. Get a 424 select and some performance upgrades. Also try putting your right knee on th seat and your left foot remains on left peg. Shift all your wieght back while rolling and gun it. maybe it will come up. You end up riding it like a snowmobile.

According to the magizines the honda is suppose to be easier to keep the front end while rolling.

put it in gear, get up on it and hold on to the handlebars while standing on the back of the back rack. give it gas and pull up on the handlebars and push down with your feet.

revving it wont work cause it wont let it shift into 1st until certian rpm.

buy the 424 kit, or just buy a sport if you want to whellie utes arent really made for it.

Posted by: CBR310

Mine doesnt. It even says it in the manual.

I did the hill trick today and the front came up about 2feet.

Posted by: coolguy8769

i'm getting a yfz 450 this october so i will wheelie soon.

Posted by: coolguy8769

i'm getting my yfz 450 in october so i think i can wait until then

Posted by: coolguy8769

because they suck and have no performance. i am going to race gncc so i want something that is fast through the whole powerband

Posted by: coolguy8769

yeah but i like the push button start is great if you stail it.it will start in less than a second. and i like the looks of the yfz.

Posted by: coolguy8769

lol. thank you

Here is how you do it. First go lift some wieghts. Then when you have a good sweat going, go power lift the front end of your rancher and wa la, you are doing a wheelie! img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Now wasn't that fun.

my rancher will not wheelie unless u do some serious yankin but my buddy has one and he put the 4wd disengage in and it wheelies alot easier , still hard but easier then when in 4wd.
