A utility that will really surprise poeple with its speed with a few modifications is a polaris xplorer 400.

I have found utility quads are at best clumsy jumpers. Plus, due to the weight, you'll start breaking expensive parts. I've had my Cat 500i off the ground once or twice, but it wasn't happy about it. If you like jumping and going fast, get a Z400 - a buddy of mine has one, and that thing is a hoot. Couldn't haul a trailer load of firewood with it, but it's practically a 250 dirt bike when it comes to going fast and getting off the ground.

Of course, the 2X4's are going to be better fliers than the 4X4's, just because there is less weight on the front end. I have busted out some pretty big air on the 2X4 Rancher. There is a riding area where everybody goes out to jump, and I like to go out there now and then and jump the Rancher, and leave everybody with a surprised look on their faces.

The Prairie 650/ 700/ 750 Brute has been known to be pretty fast.
It might be better to ask which is faster and jumps best from each cc group. Like 250, 350, 400, 450/500, and 650/750.

grizzlys jump like crap just so you know =)
I can bottom out the front suspension by bouncing on the floorboards.

as for fast utility... Why even think about that ?
Utility... just what it says. no jumpin or racing involved with that description.
However. The Prarie would be the fastest. and most stable Id say.

man yeah u think any quad with fully independent suspensiosn isnt gonna jump to well in terns when you do get it up ur tires are gonna just toe in as it starts to raise the rear and speed wise i was riding around in our local riding spot on the grizz and a twin peaks got up beside me we both nailed them when we pinned them we was runnin about 15mph and we stayed side by side til abotu 17mph and then he started pullin me so i would say the twin peaks/kawapuki

JUMP?? LOL, wont your tools get scattered all over? As far as fastest to fill feeders, run fence lines looking for trespassers and drag tree's, my Prairie is too quick for greenhorns playing around.
Napa mod and mod factory exhaust and you cant keep the front wheels on the ground from a jump start, without full throttle. If the grass is wet, you just lurch forward whatever way the wheels are pointed (in 2WD)
I saw someone trying to jump in a polaris....bummer for whoever had to pay for repairs.
Ball's -o- plenty on that thing, and its only the 650

The big picture:
Isn't jumping with a top heavy utility an effort at getting into the Darwin Award club?
My 03 650 Prairie is an outstanding machine, but playing around with some smaller sports was clearly better handling quick turns when you dip a wheel into a grass covered rut or when the jump doesnt go perfectly, a little off center and....................white lights and bandages await LOL

I set my suspension on the hardest settings and my griz jumps just fine. The stock settings were at the next to soft setting.

My Rincon jumps pretty well

ive done some stupid crap with my vinson...truthfully someone spared me i believe. One jump I had dug out and made a pretty harsh lip to it. My buddy was riding the 02 eiger 4x4 which is slow as hell (needs TONS of work) and i was riding my vinson...I kept watching him go over the jump and he goes come on show me what you can do. Well his eiger would get about 4 ft in the air...my problem is the jump is right before a small hill so even tho I really only cleared about 6 or 7 feet at about 45 mph...i was far higher than that with the hill dropping off. I landed on my right side first and somehow managed to not dump the bike. Other times ive jumped it over small bumps on flat ground and its ALWAYs and i mean ALWAYs landed on all fours with ease.
I love my vinny but its scary now with all of these mods.

The wolverines have a very good suspension and are excellent jumpers for being a 4x4 IMO. They obviously aren't as fast as prairies but are very nimble, light and land pretty good from my experience.

Jump? Of course I have to go with the Vinson( my bud's Prairie is a jumper too!). Over-all Prairie/Twin Peaks. Haven't ridden with, or on the BF-waiting for the KQ.

My friends 2x4 kodiak is a great jumper.....

I had my 03 grizzly 5 ft. off the ground on a small jump. My friend was standing after the jump to the side and he said that the axels were at eye level. I won't do it again, but it landed like a cat. I came down almost on all fours at the same time. The suspension is adjustable so you can get it were you like it.
