I still have my 96 Bear - can't kill it. Pretty much your basic 4x4 - simple, 5 spd manual with dual range. Very reliable - not a lot to go wrong. One thing I like about it is that it's small - much narrower than my Cat 500i, so it can squeeze between trees that would block the Cat. (My farm is mostly hardwood trees)

snow, the bear is great in the snow unless it bottoms out. when you hit the frame you're pretty much stuck, as for pulling a kodiak backwards it should, i have pulled trees in 2nd gear, the only prob you could have it wheelspin, i could pull a truck if the wheels didnt spin (j/k about the truck)

sorry forgot the "in" at the beginning of my message

yea, if a wolvie pulled a kodiak backwards, hte big bear will have no prob with it!!

forget the stupid big beat pos. get the wolverine. right jarod?

seriously the big bear is a good machine. So is the wolvering. If a wolverine could pull a kodiak backwords then a big bear could

im in the opposite situation. I want a sport quad but want to keep my kody 450 too. maybe one day. one day.............

is it a bb with the low range or sinle range tranny? my dad has a 96 big bear and a 98 or 99 kodiak 400. Both are great machines. Bulletproof we call them. as you can see we are yammy people.

I clocked my buddy's 89 BB for him once .. he's handy on 300, and his son who was on with him was probably around 75 at the time, plus the rack box and windsheild and stuff like that .. ... anyway .. he topped out around 63km/h (40mph) but he was afraid to push any further .. might blow it up .. this thing has a million miles on it and it still starts easily even on the coldest of days. It's in pretty cherry condition too .. he takes really good care of it, and consequently it takes care of him. I'd estimate an ultimate top speed on a big bear with a light rider to probably be somewhere between 45 and 50mph (downhill wind at your back .. blah blah) but it would be ready to chuck it at that point ..

The BB is a great machine for anything that you want to do (except a speed run). The more I drive mine the more I like it.

The BB has a 5-speed with auto-clutch.

im wonderin i wanna get rid of the rappy an get that so in snow is it good , top speed, will it pull a kodiack back words (a wolverine did ), thats bout it just your opinoun ill be using it to hunt an just get me from point a to b back to a thats it

Thats kinda funny, I have got my Rappy for sale in my store right now so i can buy one of my parents Big Bears. I have been riding it and i like it. Its great in the woods and the mud but it you are looking for speed then its not the right choice.

i dont think so becasue the kodiak could be the 450 with the low range
and even if it dosent have the low range its an automatic so it will always be in the right gear

but then agian anything is possible
