The P650 and P700 CVT intake is under the small cover just below the handle bars.

lol...as long as it doesnt shut off you'll be fine...if it shuts off dont start it back up...ull suck in water and probley mess something up...take it home and change the oil...start it up for it a little bit...and then change the oil a few more times...

theres one of those in the woods behind my house...theres 3-4 pool of water...the first ones are only about 6-12 inches deep depending on how much rain we've gotten...the last one is about 2 foot deep...it was a big deal 2 years ago when i had never driven anywhere but a field...hehe...now im trying to dig it deeper...its mostly sand at the bottom i think..

Not meaning to burst your bubble or anything, but water above the engine is really not that big of a deal. When we start getting around the racks and above, that's when it gets a little technical.

Hey boys while we're on the subject of intakes, where is the CVT intake snorkel on the Kawasaki Prairie 650? I know it's somewhere high and dry, but where exactly?

Yes I know all this but having the motor submerged for long periods can't be good?

Posted by: Outrage

Yes but if you read my other post I'm talking about driving into the lake to get closer to the fish and I'm talking about keeping the exhaust just above water. Sometimes I'll sit there for a few hours pulling up nice size trout.

well came up to some water sat. didnt look deep at first so what the heck . started to go through and i could see the bottom so no big deal , well next thing i know im up to the top of the motor in water oh shi*#&
i kept on going and made it across to the other side with no problem , that was pretty cool

Posted by: Bruin350

ya im happy with it

Posted by: Bruin350

pop !!!! there goes my bubble , that was the first time for me that deep and no problem with the belt so do i have to go for the handle bars next Rich

Posted by: Bruin350

good idea i think i'll try that thanks

Posted by: Sparky660

The belt intake is under the racks on the Grizzly. So anything over the fenders is to deep. Besides if the water is over the fenders you need a boat not a quad.

Posted by: Sparky660

I agree but realisticaly normal driving would only have the engine under water or partially submerged for a few seconds. The worst that could happen is it would suck water into the engine and you would have to drain the carb and cylinder and change all your fluids.

not bad for a little grizzly cub

Posted by: getterdone

might want to get some snorkels and then blow your bubble up and head for the handle bars!

Posted by: Lomax

Yeah thats not real deep but I am suprised that the belt didnt slip because if i am not mistaken the tranny breeather is only a little higher than that and it dont take much splashin to get some in there.

You didnt fall through the ice, you broke through the ice intentionally so you could cross the freezing water's and cool your engine off.

bruin350:

find your air intake, 1" below that is how deep of water you can go through with no problems......after that it may become a concern

Posted by: grizzlysrock

wow! no way you went through water! you daredevil

Posted by: elraptor02

i went through ice water up to my racks on my old bayou 220..that thing was an indestructable beast.. the ice was like one inch thick..i fell through and then plowed my way out like a 100 ft..it was fine after that too.

No, standing on your seat fishing is not good for your quad.

Water will seap in thru your CV boots, exhaust, bearing, thru your shifters and everywhere else. It's one thing to ride thru deep water but quite another to park in deep water.

I would suggest re-lubeing your entier quad, from your A arm bearings to your engine oil and diff oil any where you can take apart and grease or change oil I would do so.

As for loosing your "bass boat" I would suggest getting a float tube or one of those single person pontoon float tubes and use your quad to haul it to the lake.

Oh and standing on your seat will break down the foam and rip your seat cover much faster
