I adjusted my front shocks to the middle position to compensate for the weight.

The winch is well worth the weight.... Any other winch that weighs less simply won't do the job.....

Ps, I have like only 2 hours on my Vinny like it a bunch...

pss, check out the bumper for the vinny at www.warn.com

pretty cool set up

The Contactor hooks in to the battery via the red and black leads. If you look at each terminal post on the Contactor, they are color coded on the tip of the threads, the colors correspond to the colored leads. You'll also see two brown wires which are spliced together by means of an eye terminal. That should attach to the ground or "black" terminal post on the contactor. Double check on your instruction sheet though!

Update: BTW luny....I just won mine!

Yeah luny, got it on ebaY for just a few bucks more than what you paid. There were 2 closing 30 seconds apart and the first went for $330 and I didn't get a bid in because I had just changed my password a typed it wrong! D'oh! I nailed the second for $340 which is still a few bucks less than what I was planning on paying. Yep, it's fun outfitting these things but has been a bit crazy for me since I finished the 400 and now I am doing the 500HO only a month later! I also ordered my winch mount, brush guard, and rear tube bent tube bumper and they should all arrive at the same time next Thursday I think. I am waiting for UPS for my Cabelas order as I type! He's bringing a new cover for the 500HO, a trailer ball mount with a hook for pulling as well as 2 front pull mounts for both Utes. When I'm all done bolting this crap on next week it will be time to RIDE!!

I just bought one on e-bay for $330.00 and $25.00 shipped. This thing is HEAVY! Close to 25 lbs. Is this over kill? How will that weight effect the handling? I am thinking about selling it and finding something lighter. I will be instaling it on a 2004 vinson I bought last week. (I love the vinson,by the way)

Thanks for the input. I decided to instal the winch. I've got it bolted in. mtVinny- I'm going to put the remote in the same location you described. There is two bolts on the winch,#1and #2,near the blue and yellow that are pre-wired. How do those connect? Where did you put the contactor? And how does the contactor hook up to the batterie? Any tips will be great!

tree doc-don't you just love getting all these toys? Did you get it on e-bay? Iv'e got stuff coming in from e-bay and cabelas. Thanks for the info on the contactor.I can't figure out where to mount the contactor on my vinson. I think I'll have to remove the tool kit and put it there,or maybe in the rear box. Hopefully I'll here from another vinson owner and they will give more input

I just put a Warn 3.0 on my Vinson, I mounted the plug for the remote just below the handlebar headlamp (between the rack and the light) right in the middle. This makes it easy to use the remote from either side of the machine. Easy to get back behind there to, just remove the plastic from around the fuel tank and engine and you can reach up in there from the right side. The two wires that you need to hook up to power when the ignition switch is on, hook up really easy to the orange wire behind the ignition switch.

Luny, I put my contacter behind the battery (on the outside of the machine) worked well right there. I removed the tool box and the battery, held the contacter up from the outside and drilled one hole at a time, putting in bolts as I went. make sure you put the bolts in from the inside though so they don't rub the battery. I ran the wiring (red and black for the battery) down the frame and up into the battery compartment where the other wires come in. By the way, if you take the two screws out of the rocker switch and turn the bracket over, you can take the bolt out of the brake lever on the left side (the one that you would loosen to rotate the brake lever on the handlebar) and put the rocker switch there. I think this is way better than using the supplied clamps for the handlebars, because it's less hardware, and it puts the switch below the handlebar so that in the event of a rollover it's one less thing damaged. And it looks good there to. Hope everything goes good.
