as i said before the honda is going to be more durable than the kawi, for the simple fact that manual trannys are simpler and more effecient. O and the honda is built better.

That rancher has a super low first gear(granny gear) and low 2nd gear for that mud your talkin about.

The extra 33 cc's arent going to be a big deal when the belt tranny and the transversly mounted engine(honda uses inline drivetrain) and extra weight arent as effecient as hondas manual tranny. If your going to be mudding it and working with it y would you need to take it out of 4x4(keeps things more simple) Hondas triple sealed rear drum is just as effective as keeping away the lements as the kawasakis. However the kawis disc will stop better. But the honda also has triple sealed front breaks where the kawi doenst have sealed anything up front.

kaw-9.8" ground clearance
Hon-7.2"
K- 7.1" rear swingarm travel
H-5.9"
K-$5499 MSRP
H-$4899
The Kaw has a way more plush ride. Its built on a 650 size frame.
BUT, The Honda is built by HONDA!
I know from experience the Kaw is a great machine. For mud, it'll tow the Honda anywhere.
They both feel underpowered.
Why don't you check out the Eiger and the Wolverine, they're in between there in price and may be a lot funner to ride, especially for a guy coming off a kfx400.

Sorry for the repost, but I just saw the Yamaha bruin. This may be a good choice too. Auto.

I have a P360 and rode many 400 Kodiacs and almost bought a Bruin. The Praire is a better all around quad in my opinion, and mosly everyone else.

i am wondering about the 2. i am trading in my kfx400, for one or the other i will be riding in deep and nasty mud alot. i like the idea of being able to run in 2x4 on the p360, i know u can on the rancher for 300$, warn kit. what is the best atv outa the 2? i know the p360 is automatic but it really makes me no difference. which one will last and take more abuse? which is faster? i also like the idea of lifting the rancher i know highlifter makes a kit for it.. what are your thoughts?

You can't go wrong with either of these quads. Both manufactures are at the top of the food chain for reliability. Just compare each feature for both quads. The 360prairie is 362cc while the rancher 350 is 329cc. The prairie has the locking diff which is awsome. You can apply it when you need it. The rancher doesn't have locking diff. The 360prairie has in/out 4x4 while the rancher is full time 4x4. The 360 prairie has multi-sealed rear breaks that do not allow any water or mud to get to them and they work wonderful, while the ranchers breaks can be exposed to the elements. The 360prairie has automatic CVT tranny with 1100 lbs towing while the rancher is either push-button electric or manual and much less towing. (The rancher's tranny is probably better for long-term reliability.) You can go on and on with the comparison, but you should look at both and go with what you like. I know people who have both quads and they are very good. I myself lean toward the 360priarie due to the larger motor and more features like locking diff and rear sealed breaks, but either is great. Good luck and ride safely.

I have rode both of these quads and the preformance is better on the 360. You can tell that it has a little more power and the honda is 3.5 wheel drive. It doesn't have any locking diff at all, and the kawa's locking diff is great. You decide when to apply it and how much will be applied. I am not knocking honda, but I feel you get much more with the 360 prairie than the rancher. Why does honda even call it a 350 when it is a 329cc motor? Even on their honda recon (which I have one) they call it a 250 yet it is actually a 229cc. Go figure! Both quads are very good and you probably can't go wrong with either, but I just prefer the kawa.....that's all.
