Never heard anything bad about the Tusk, I have owned the Ramsey and Warn and never had any problems. Currently I have a 2500 lb Warn.

Have you tried to do a search about Tusk? Try going back at least 6 months. There's been a little bit written about it.

The mounting plate is very simple. All you need is a flat piece of steel and know where to drill the holes. You'd still need to get some "U" shaped bolts to mount it to the frame and the fairlead.

All I know is a few years back a freind and i were way back in the woods hitting some huge mud holes. He got stuck i mean really stuck, when we tried using his winch witch was a cheaper brand like super winch or something we heard a pop and then nothing, the motor would run but nothing moved. We spent the next 3 hours geting him out. after that he bought a warn A2000 and not another problem I put a warn 2.5 ci on my machine and its been a life saver many times, even pulled cars and a van out of the mud and one ditch. But on something like a winch its worth it to buy the good stuff. Thats just my 2 cents.

i had a warn a2500 but stripped it out. was pulling a stump the size of my upper arm and it stripped the winch out. i now have a rule 3300 and the stump didnt know what hit it. i was using a snatch block on the warn and it didnt move. just used the straight pulling power of the rule and up came the stump. plus its quieter and doesnt get as hot

Has anybody out there used a tusk winch from rockymontain atv. Are they anygood? A 3000lbs winch is only 179.99 but you have to get a 60 mounting plate. And which is the best Warn,Trail tamer,Ramsey,Tusk,Superwinch come on i know you 4X4 guys got something to say about this!

thanks but a warn is not in the price range. They are sweet though i have a friend with one on a 500 sportsman H.O. special edition. More repleys would be greatly apreciated.

I've used Warn on the trucks, Jeeps, and quads. I burnt the motor on the Warn 8000 on the Jeep and it's being fixed right now. I'd recommend Warn since they've saved me a million times.

I've used the Tusk 2000 now for a month with a Recon. No problems so far. Package seems to be ok, quality ok also. Can't say about longer term reliability

Ooops, forgot to say in the last post; The installation plate was really a simple piece of metal, so if you have some tools and skill, I would propose making that yourself.
