I'm not up on Polaris, but is the 400 sportsman a utility quad?????????????

Posted by: Camo-man

Thanks for setting me straight....

Well my 2 cents. I think i have a very fast modified xplorer 400 - now a 2 wheel drive-the "Beast". In western ky i run flat track TT's in the summer when i have time and the rest of the time i trail ride. With 18" American Racers (flattrack T23 soft tread) at 3/8 mile track the trans topped out at 81 mph (radar reading) hard surface, on 1/2 mile chad surface i was clocked at 76 mph- this was before i shaved the front fenders and got the frame 5.5" off the ground. With trail tires 25"all tracks rear - 22" Razars on the front ride beside a car i did 85 +(car speedo only went to 85). I changed some clutch springs so i don't know if it will still run as fast - went to a stiffer spring for the flattracks. i don't know how i would do on drag- in the small fair areas in w. ky i hit 50~55mph in the straights usually unless it's really slick. Are there any drags in the winter- web page? I would like to try one some day just to see how my old bike would do set with trail tires. People just don't realize the power you can achieve in these 2 stroke engines.

looks cool , what are you using for wheels and tires.

The first one off a 1000' cliff... hits terminal velocity very quickly.

atvdrag....yes you built a fast utility quad... but that doesnt even compare to the sport quads time... nobody runs 200ft drags... everything is ran 300ft... go run a 300 and get the time slip for that before claiming to be the best

Posted by: Bing

that is a sweet and fast polaris

atvdragracer
Have you seen the video of craycrafts new rappy (i think its a 730).

I wonder what your 300' time would be.

Posted by: BrianT

Post a copy of your time slips. I'd be interested in seeing some more info!

I'm thinking of dragging my Prairie this Spring. Only one other utility quad where we go to race, and it's a Rincon.

not tryin to start anything here. but what proof is there that it is the fastest??

Posted by: MnFriesen

Let me show you, come to Ky. We will do some drag racing. Our races pay from $100.00 up to $5000.00 and alot of fun and adrenaline trying to win. So if your good enough you can take home some money??? What do you take home per race?

lol thats funny....ever here of 12 hours of atv america?

ohh and you wanna race hook up with a guy named alltoys...he'll give you one he!! of a run thats for sure

Posted by: trailride

I may be wrong but aren't people running 3.40's in 300 feet. ive never seen a 200 foot drag? but then again i dont drag race .

Posted by: atvdragracer

Check it out on web site web site

Posted by: atvdragracer

Yes it is..It is a 1995 Polaris 400 sportsman I trimed the fenders, it has a custom paint job, it has a 400 polaris atv engine, 4 wheel drive trans., it's a true polaris utility.

Posted by: atvdragracer

roscoe69.....douglas 125, shark fins on the front, honda radials, 4-snow and pro wedges on rear

MnFriesen
1-I run 3.47 with one motor
2-I run 3.70 with another motor
3-Ihave time slips to show it
these times are on a 200ft dirt track with a polaris sportsman utility 400cc 2-stroke engine, NOT snowmoble engine

BrianT
I would like to see more utilities in this sport, there are a lot of people that think you have to have a sporty atv to be fast I think I have proved them wrong!!!

Posted by: atvdragracer

Thank You, I worked hard at doing what no one else would try to do. Built a utility to run with all the sporty atv's. Everyone said it couldnt be done. WEll i proved them wrong!!! They dont laugh now.

Posted by: atvdragracer

I dont think so....lol

Posted by: atvdragracer

It's all the same stock parts i just cut the fenders and custom painted it, still has the same motor just mod. it and same trans. but changed to extended swing arm

Posted by: atvdragracer

All our tracks are 200ft. You all need to go to a drag race, then you would understand what i'm saying. I dont think you all have a clue about fast!!!

Posted by: atvdragracer

LOL.....WELL...I would have to see it run and the time slips!!! People say alot but can they back it up??? Anyone that wants to see my time slip, email me and I will send it to you. If anyone here knows of any other utility that's fast I would like to know so maybe we can get together and do some racing.

Posted by: atvdragracer

3.40s in 200 ft isnt that fast ....since when do drags run 200ft? most are 330 or 600ft , Have you ever ran 300ft ,

BARTLETT RACING

Looks like you all do maybe the gncc or motorcross???? I dought if you have ever been to a drag race. 600ft...lol What do you race snowmobles???? You probability dont have a atv that will run 4.3 let alone 3.4's. I know, because my son races gncc. Hey better yet bring your atv's down here next year and let's do some racing.

That is just what I'm looking for competition, bring it on!!! I'll be waiting.

Posted by: atvdragracer

There are some tracks still running. Most of us have stopped for the year. It's time to figure out what we will do to them for the comming year. Here is a web site you might like it's for drag racers. www.atvdra.com. There are a lot of us on it from ky. I will say one thing there is a lot of b.s. that goes on. There are alot that say they run....and beleive me they dont. You just dont run that time when no one is around. lol Maybe next year some of you all can come race with us. I love to see new faces. Hope you enjoy the race when you come and be sure and stop by our trailer and say hi. Kathy

Well around here that is what we all run 200ft tracks. So that is what I am set up for. There arent any 300ft tracks around here right now. I am hoping to run at some tracks that are 300ft. next year. Then I will post my 300ft times. The sport quads you are talking about. What are they? Do they even run in my classes? Now remember I am a utility. I do have a Time slip from the motor that is on a shelf right now. It run 3.47 on 200ft. but there are some bugs in it that we are going to work out before next year. But constant runs are 3.70 with the motor I have been running. I am also running same frame, motor, trans, everything is stock i just mod. it's looks. didnt change any thing but extended the swing arm. Are these others running there stock parts?

classes

utility
scrambler
automatic
500 mod
powder puff

Fastest I've ever heard of in a 300' drag was Craycraft's Rappy 730 (?) which ran 4.28 or something and bascially blew everyone's minds that a quad could go that fast .. over 70mph in 3rd!!!

With the numbers you posted and assuming (which you can't) a linear relationship here .. you're covering 100' in 1.7 seconds. That rolls out to 5.1 on 300' ... if you factored in accelleration into this you would probably be pulling close on 4.8 at best I think in 300' which is a fair bit slower than the craycraft rappy's 4.28. We're talking more than 1/2 a second on a less than 5 second drag ..

So I think I'm pretty safe in saying the rappy is fast. Certainly no shame in pulling 4.8 in 300' on a ute either tho .. you've done a good job with your machine!

~NICE~

Keep up the Good work atvdragracer!!

Posted by: scaboy

I am impressed!, for a utility 400 4x4 , granted not stock,
that is still fast.

And she even made a rack for the back to keep that utility look.
