I have a o3 foreman s and I can't wheelis it. I weight 180 lbs and can't seem to get the wheels up and keep em up. Any ideas? I would realy like to be able to wheelie.

yeah - popping the clutch is bad. ATV, car, bus, whatever. stress on the xmission and drivetrain. Just think about what's exactly happening. You wind the engine, then suddenly release the clutch. BAM! Take off.

Popping the clutch on "true" (as long as you have good fibers and good springs in your clutch, as to stop it from slipping when you do release the clutch) no slip = no problem. BR>

On a utility I would NEVER do it, but on a sport quad, go ahead, thats what they are made for. Sure, fiber life will be affected, but not too much

I don't think it can hurt anything in the trans. by trying to wheelie. Pulling a heavy trailer and nailing it , maybe. My Vinson all you have to do is hit the gas and bounce on the seat to keep the tires from spinning and it comes right up. It's a 5 speed but I have done a few small mods including a dyno jet kit. I try to keep it looking stock as I can.

Alright I see what they are saying about the auto clutch wheelies. That would have to play heck on the synchronizers in the trans. Almost sounds like a neutral drop in a car. Nah I don't think I'd try it.

recons are so good for wheelies. i rode my friends bayou 220 and my other friends timberwolf and neither of them can get close to having the low end torque i do its ridiculous

OutlawRancher!!!! Hello there. I am wondering how you like you rancher. I currently have to racers and looking to buy a 4by4 to push snow, Thats the only purpose, I 've riden all the new quads that are 350cc and lower. I am stuck between the yamaha Bruin 350 or the rancher 350. I dont like the revese on the honda but they have real good finance right now. The Bruin I afraid that the belt will not last pushing snow

Outlaw Rancher!!! Thanks for the insight, I am stopping by the Honda Dealership to put my order in on Monday, Now whats the deal with the diff- lockers,(I know that it will make all the wheels spin together) Do you really need them??? Are they hard to put in yourself and how much money are we talking about??? This rancher is going to be for my little business do you think the atv and the plow would work fine?? I don't want to spend a lot of money to get started!

Posted by: OutlawRancher

I have a Rancher 4x4 and all I have to do to get it up on two wheels is stand on the back rack , push down , and pin the throtle . Up you go and it works on autos too. Cousin has a Kodiak 400 4x4 and does it all the time .

Posted by: OutlawRancher

I love my Rancher 4x4 . I have only have it stuck 4 times due to bottoming out . Other than that it gets me in and out of almost every hole I attenpt . If you are planning on pushing snow just get some ITP 589s and a diff-locker and you'll be set . Look at my sig. for what i'm getting . I have pulled out so many 250 Recons and dirt bikes that I quit counting after the first week . Great bike !! Anything else I would be happy to answer for you .

u ,
About the Diff-Locker , i'm just getting mine because I ride alot of mud . I don't think you will really need it unless the snow is really high then I would consider a diff-locker . I'm getting mine from Dirty Howies www.dirtyhowies.com . Their lockers are just as good as the Detroit Gearless Locker and a lot cheaper . Dirty Howies diff-locker is only $90 compaired to D.G.L. which is like $300 + . I don't know how hard it is to install because one I don't have one yet and two i'm having someone put mine in for me . I think the snow plow , Diff-locker ( if you want ) , and the Rancher 4x4 would be great for you little business .

Yeah I know how . My cousin has a Kodiak 400 4x4 and here is how we wheelie his one , stand up on the back racks push down and floor it !! Two , you sit as far back on the racks as you can , push down with your butt and pin the throttle . Sometimes they work sometime they dont just depends on how bad you want to wheelie it .

i dont no wat issue it was but goes to dirtwheelsmag.com for it.......but yeh it tears out the clutch and transmission.

Posted by: Lego

i think it would do fine without the diff lock, but then again i dont have a rancher and i dont plow snow...................................ok dont take my opinion. i fthink a rancher would be better than a bruin though.

hope ya like watevr ya get

Posted by: Lego

ok yeah, thats wat we mean by popping the clutch. itz reeeely bad for ur 4 wheeler

Posted by: Lego

no-good dont-pop..............nice slogan......itz like the opposite of the pringles slogan......

Posted by: Lego

yeah....except itz more like, "once ya pop.....ur 4 wheeler falls apart and you regret not gettin a sport quad and now you have to replace ur clutch and tranny." hmm....kinda catchy

Posted by: Lego

huminski416 - yeah, recons r really good wheeling quads. not all utility quads can do that, thats why sime need to pop the clutch..but itz bad 4 it.

elk5012 - normal wheeling doesnt hurt it...thatz not wat we're sayin, but popin the clutch to wheelie is bad.

Posted by: Lego

yeah, thatz wat i thought. i have a 300cc and it cant wheelie worth crap. i wanna get a z-400 too soon.

Posted by: Lego

yeha recons are in the tp 10 wheelieing quads on dirtwheelsmag.com

Posted by: RedGoblin

Has anyone besides me gone to dirtwheelsmag.com and read their "method" for doing wheelies on an auto-clutch utility quad? If you haven't, please go and read it so you can answer this question for me. Isn't this way of doing a wheelie very rough on the transmission or drivetrain or something?

what issue of dirt wheels

Posted by: huminski416

Give me a break. My wife has a 250 Recon and all I have to do is ride along in second gear, put my butt all the way back on the seat, pull up on the bars and hit the gas. And it's only a 250. Who needs to pop the clutch?

Posted by: huminski416

Hey Lego,

Didn't realize they all weren't that easy, I just figured if a 250 can do it then for sure a 400 or 500 could. Glad I grabbed that little honda instead of the zuk then. Of course my other bike is the z400, and that zuk can lift the front allright!

Posted by: YFZ450R

utility's are not ment for whelleies and racing, get a sport quad to do that kool stuff!!

Posted by: buddyrow

I got a kawsaki bayou 220 and all i got to do to ride a wheelie is hold the shifter up some so when a let go its in 1st gear and press the gas then let off the shifter and its up.

Posted by: buddyrow

the dude that has the recon 250 said who needs to pop the clutch,i do,because i only weigh 95lbs when i got 2 people i can just hit the gas and it comes up. if i waz maybee 140 lbs i could just hit the gas and come up,i can get 3 gears while ridin a wheelie
