www.trailervise.com On or off the trailer, use a lock on it and the ATV isn't going anywhere

I have mine in my baby barn. I have the atv chained to the floor as well as the door locked and motion lights in the yard.....................and of coarse my trusty shot gun

Posted by: Haymaker

I just leave a bunch of junk laying around the garage and at night they will trip over alot of stuff just to get to my quads. When I want to ride I just clean up, lol! They actually found a barn with 6 quads in it not far from where I live and all were stolen from the area. Needless to say the people involved are in prison now. I HATE QUAD THIEVES!!!!!! I do secure my quads with a chain and lock or just remove a tire if I'm going away for an extended time.

I would have to agree with coyotechaser, lights and locks are the best theft deterrents. Thieves and petty burglars look for dark places to commit their crimes, they hate lights

remove 2 of the wheels and take em in the house with ya.
put them next to the shotgun.

Posted by: raptor8

HEY if that's what it takes, go for it! the cops told me off the record to make sure the perps could no longer speak. less paperwork or something. BR>

Sorry, we hold our own pulls here in Maine, but we travel around pulling, I would like to come to New Jersey to pull, if you have them.

Allways take your kill switch tether with you, or disconnect an appropiate wire.

I use nothing but Kryptonite "Fahgettaboudit" ("New York" chain and locks) and "New York" U-locks. All are extremely expensive, but worth it for some peace of mind!!

In the garage, I just chain the bikes together end to end in a big circle. Every bike is chained to two other bikes. Nobody is going anywhere with 8 bikes!

On the trailer, I chain the bikes together, and I chain them to the trailer frame. At night, or in high risk areas, I run U-locks through the spokes of the trailer wheels, and then run a New York chain through the locks and up around the frame, so the trailer can't be moved.

Back that all up with insurance!!

Locks & Lights. Guns are only good if your home.

Shotgun, Looks like you could drive your quad on top of water instead of through it.

TeddyTwoFire, You could use a universal ball mount with 2 or 3 balls. No nuts to unscrew. Along with a receiver lock.
There is a steering lock for quads. One side mounts to the end of the handle bars on a chain. The chain goes across the front and locks to the rack.

(I tried to post a similar reply but it didn't go through correctly. So if there is two after I click on this "Reply to Thread" button. I didn't think the first one posted correctly.)

The steering lock is called the Fahgettaboudit by Kryptonite. It seems like the weakest points would be where it attaches to the handle bar (not really sure how it attaches), attach point on rack (could rack be cut or removed) and the padlock (could be cut off). But it should slow a thief down.

Alot of people have tools in their garages. So once the thief is in the garage they could use your own tools against you.

i took a piece of steel pipe 6ft long and made a 3/4inch steel bar with a closed loop at each end. i welded it to the top of the steel pipe and buried it untill 2 1/2ft was left above ground and filled the hole with 3 bags of quickcrete. i use brinks 6ft cable locks, 1 for each 4 wheeler. plus i have them in a locked building at all times. no to mention the shotgun, .45, and the raging bull 454 i keep loaded at all times

I just park an old truck in front of the shop door and leave the twins (P-650s) on the trailer. You don't have the room to take them off and you cant pull the trailer away.

Posted by: pineypower

hey shot gun. do you have a schedule for when and where the atv pulls will be. do you ever have them close to newjersey

Posted by: Scootergptx

cant get mine through the back gate without taking part of it down. yeah, pain in the butt for me, but if youre a thief, you dont have that much time. when i hear you jackin with the gate, ar-15 to the rescueyou dont get much target practice in the city

Anyone have ideas as to making an atv hard to steal. Trailer lock down device or steering lock....ect.

Posted by: TeddyTwoFire

Has anyone came up with a way to keep a thief from unscrewing the nut off of the ball on the hitch. I have the shotgun w/ the double 00 buckshot and a Alaskan Malamute (the dog would probably bite me and let the thiefs in). Also I has anyone made a shift lock or a steering lock??

There is a product called Quad Lock made here in Oz. Go to www quadlock.com.au. I saw one at a farm show recently and made a similar thing up. You bolt it to the floor, drive on,swing up the side plate and shoot the bolt. The hub cylinder only needs to be made adjustable if you want to use it on more than one type of quad as the ground to hub centre varies with manufacturer. I made my hub cylinder fixed to suit my KQ. Hope this helps

Wonder if a Boot like the police use would work. Ya know when ya park in an illegal spot and they stick that tireboot on your car. Some one should make a ATV sized one. For the meantime I live out in the country and own alot of land. If your stupid enough to drive allll the way up to my barn behind my house and steal em then good luck to ya. Cuz ya gotta pass by the house first And when Im not home Im out 4 wheelin. Rarely is no one home from my house and even then our good ol neighbor keeps an eye out for us.

My grizzly says in a barn with a light over the door...When i am going to be gone for long i take my tractor and put the front end loader on over the handlebars.....with the tractor behind the rear wheels.

I'm glad i don't have to go through all that to keep my bikes safe. I can leave mine set out under the carport for days on end.
