I just looked at the Cannondale website, and they said that their next machine to be produced will be the FX400. It will be available this fall. BTW-they started shipping their MX400 motocrossers today. I'm stoked, I want one!
Posted by: AlaskaTRX
How could they be put on recall... they just started rolling off the production line and the first ones were shipped 5/31/00. I don't believe that.

The material used is a KEY part of a design. It actually is one of the foundations for a design. It is the properties of this chosen material that controls and limits where the design can go.

Its great they can make aluminum so well, cna they build a motor??? That remains to be see...

Try Surdyke.
Where do you have your Raptor on order at?
Posted by: bpace
I can't say too much but I can say that Kawasaki does have something for us and it is currently being tested. Their factory rider is scheduled to test it next week and compare it to his current ride. Those who know me on this board know my connection to get this information but you didn't here it from me.

I'll see if Mike(Williams dad)will tell me anything else this weekend at the race.

I know the new motocrosser just went into production, and they said it would be a few months until the quad is made.
A recall, and a delay in production is totaly different.

I have been following Cannondale's introduction of the MX400 and FX400 pretty closely and haven't heard of any such problems. Plus, you can't have a recall if something hasn't been sold... What would you recall?
Posted by: 86atc250r
Hmm, you might want to tell that to the CR250 riders for the last 4 years (for 3 of those years, Honda was criticized for it being too rigid and unforgiving. It was labeled as an expert only bike). You might also want to mention it to the CR125 riders for the past 2.
It's all in the design, not the materials. Have you ever heard of the bridge that cardboard makers constructed out of... you guessed it.... Cardboard, to show off the strength of their product? They drove a Semi across it. I bet I could construct a bridge from steel & concrete that would fail when a semi was driven across. The design is the key.
Posted by: 86atc250r
Yes, I understand this, actually if you read between the lines, that IS what I'm saying.
Just trying to illustrate my point that just because a given piece of aluminum is not as strong as a given piece of steel, doesn't at all mean that it is not a suitable material for a properly designed frame.
I'm sure that cardboard bridge was not constructed in the same manner as a steel bridge would be.

I was told by a local Cannondale dealer that the new quad will be out in July. These are definately good times for the sport quad enthusiast!

Did you hear they were put on recall for transmission problems. They were coming out the second week of June but this recall held them up. And i also heard that the DS 650 is on recall for the front end. Just goes to show ya dont buy the first year a new atv is made wait till the following year so all the bugs are worked out.

I hope they release a kxf-250 for 2001.
Posted by: b(250rman)
this good news because my dad is buying one as soon as they come out out with the zilla in with the FX

I have heard that cannondale will change the plastics, anyone heard this rumour?, really I donīt like them really much.
Posted by: KSFMojave250
Hope the new kawasaki will weight about 370 lbs and will be a 500 fuel injected.
Posted by: KSFMojave250
If kawasaki doesnīt release a hi performance quad, that would have around 45 HP, maybe a 500 four stroke that would be fuel injected and wieght about 360 lbs I would buy that cannondale.
Donīt know wich colour: probably viper red.
Posted by: KSFMojave250
Do someone knows from wich company did cannondale bought the technology of their engines?

If you want a good dealer in the St. Louis area, go to Pro Dirt in Wentsville, Mo. Dale( the owner) will answer any of your questions. The bike's should be out this month or in JUly, the quad's are still being tested, They want to get them out as qick as possible.

Come on now fellow Honda lover, it doesn't seem to bother this guy who grew up down the street from me. I hear he's out every weekend giving the young guys fits. His last name is LaRocco, don't remember his first name.
I've been a long time Cannondale road racer and I would bet on their technical skills when it comes to aluminium over Honda. Cannondale has NASA contracts for the space program! They're 4 real! I've got the first 2 reserved in Chicago.
Posted by: Trx440
Hey alltheway,
Do you know anything about the jambo they have near Halsey every year? It's in the Nebraska Nat'l Forest. Any info would be greatly appreciated
Posted by: Trx440
Jad,
I have 2 reserved at MCC in Villa Park. Great bunch of guys. Pro Source or TUF will also be a dealer, I think Pro Source. Nielson on the northside is gonna be a dealer too. I plan on possibly keeping one and selling the other. If its not a LOT better than my 440, I'm selling them both. I am a manager for Trader Publishing [Cycle Trader and Tradin' Times] so I know alot of the guys in Chicagoland. I like DGY and MCC the most.
I'm heading to a private track in Indiana this weekend. I have to get my front end dialed in. I just put new A-arms on it and it takes some testing to get it right. Plus this is the first riding I've done since my engine returned from CT. I need to take it easy and adjust / readjust the valves.
We'll have to hook-up and go to Indiana. I know some cool places to ride in the dunes. Do you know Tobi from the Coal City area? Another 400 guy I know from the car business.
Later, -RT

About a month ago, I read an interview by an online mag with Mike Penland. Pretty boring stuff till he was asked would he be riding in the Baja 2000, and if he did, would he be riding his Prarrie. He replyed - no I'll be riding Kawasaki's new sport quad, it's alot like the Honda 400ex. I can't believe the ATV ACTION / DIRT WHEELS didn't catch it. As I've said before if youve ever ridden a Stroker KLX 365, you know how wicked that KLX engine can be! I'm stoked. I had a Tecate 4 for years and I would not hesitate to buy the first one! By the way, in the same post that I reported the kawasaki info the first time, I also broke the news that the Raptor would have the MZ 660's engine. I did however incorrectly state the 660's name as the Apache. This was told to me by the owner of one of the nations most prominent Yamaha dealers who is very invoved with the national motocross scene. For this I would like to apologize to Alaskatrx. He jumped my a** pretty good. I guess if you are not IOO% sure dont go to press. Well I was 80% right.
Sorry Trx -RT

Hear what? From Who? Did you say something?
Posted by: ridzhard
Yes, I agree, the Cannondale is for real. My concern is engine realibility. Other than that it is a real choice for me. I watched a motocross race of Mt. Morris where the Cannondale raced at. I watched it on TV but my brother was there. He said that it Rocked! As far as a recall before a machine is even shipped, it can happen. I believe there was a last minute update of the DS650 that the first machines shipped did not get(clips installed incorrectly on lower balljoints of a few machines.) Bombardier caught it during quality control and local dealer couldn't even sell the machine they had on hand until problem was inspected/corrected.

It does look like Kawasaki has positioned themselves to be the spoiler for 2001. Yamaha has announce/introduced the Raptor, Cannondale has pretty much played thier hand, and if Kawasaki does have new sport models coming out, I believe people will flock to them. They have announce one for sure, but the rumors are rampant as to what it is. Does anybody have some insider information as to what they will have for us?
Posted by: ridzhard
Geez, I hope it is lighter than that. I just want the logical evolution to the Tecate or the 250r.
Posted by: ridzhard
I have been following your posts for a while, so what you say carries weight with me. Can you give us a hint?(whappa whappa whappa or ring-a-dingding.)
Posted by: ridzhard
Thanks, I, and many others I am sure, cannot wait for release info on the new machines. I still got my green riding gear ready to go!
Posted by: Arizona650
The motocross bike has already won qualifying motos at Mt. Morris and Southwick, It was troubled by an electrical prolem with a prototype works part in the main at Southwick but no problem with the motor itself. I don't know about the post that it won't do well in motocross, Cannondale is designing it from the ground up to be a motocrosser. Haven't heard anything about the plastics but though the chassis looks beautiful I'm not to sweet on the plastics myself. I'm on the fence about putting a deposit down on one right now.

We shouldn't have to wait long. Just as Yamaha released photos, (You really didn't think they were "spy" photos did you?) Kawasaki will have to "leak" information soon. If they wait until their dealer meetings in September the riders they are courting for their hard earned dollars will already be plunking them down on Cannondales and Raptors, not to mention DS650's. Kawasaki will have to generate some excitement before all of us planning on buying a 2001 place our deposits elsewhere or, worse yet, take delivery on a new model.
Posted by: Arizona650
Has anyone heard any new word on a possible release date for the Cannondale? My dealers here in Arizona don't even want to talk about it because they took so many deposits for the MX bike and got burned by the delays. Hopefully Cannondale learned it's lessons well from the MX launch and will hit their target date with the FX. It and the looming Kawasaki announcement have my 2001 dollars on hold-Sorry Yamaha!
