Have not owned a Blaster in many years, so I can't recall what goes there. But, looks like it would let a lot of dust into somewhere!
See if you can find an engine diagram, or look at the pictures in the owner's manual....

hey i just ran out and looked on my sisters blaster. I have a rubber plug in that hole. Not 100% sure what it is used for but i'm 100% sure it needs to be there before you run it! If you are still interested i can take a picture and post it tomorrow. (post if you want a pic!)

hi, i have a 01 yamaha Blaster and it is just not running smooth and i noticed a plug missing and i was wondering if it had anything to do with it not running smooth. Here is a picture so you know what i mean:

from what i can tell on the yamaha website they dont show anything in the hole ill give you the url 4 it its http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx
and just find your atv and it will give you a picture of what everything is supposed to look like
