This will mean different things to different people! Do you mean low end, mid, high end????

For example, a Banshee has no low end at all so it is slow out of the gate, yet it has a hit in the middle that can jerk your arms out of their sockets. On the other hand, my 400EX is torquey and has lots of low end, so it can jump off the line fast but then gets easily beaten on the high end by lots of other machines.

Pick a machine first based on handling and suspension!

Wait for a KTM 525! Should be available soon....

Is there a fuel injected Honda 490 on the horizon????

While a Polaris may have a KTM engine in it, I would never buy anything on a Polaris frame when in a few months I could get the same engine in a KTM frame! KTM has an outstanding reputation....Polaris doesn't!

That said, I can see how IRS may have applications for some riders that need high ground clearance, yet don't want to be riding some clunky utility. But a real sport quad, has a swingarm and an SRA!

Lets see: 600-800 pound utility vs 350 pound sport quad....sure sounds clunkey to me.....

Posted by: reconranger

.....and I said even an Outlaw is preferable to a "clunkey utility". Can't remember how much the Outlaw weighs, but it is sure isn't any 350 pounds. Maybe we should call it a "clunkey sport quad"?????

I have owned a Banshee, Zilla and Raptor at one time and I can tell you this much, nothing is as fast as a Quadzilla, but I have never even ridden a stock Banshee or Quadzilla before.

Good luck with this one. lol

Why would you base your decision on buying a quad on "Fastest accelerating stock atv" ?

The Outlaw 525s will be lighter and faster than the Outlaw 525 with IRS. And I'm betting the KTM 525 XC will be lighter and faster than either of the Polaris ATVs with the KTM engine in them.

The Outlaw 525 IRS weighs less than the 700 Raptor so does that make the Raptor a "clunky sport quad" also?

And if you think any of the 450's actually weigh 350 lbs I have some land you might be interested in.

kawasaki's 450
yfz450
outlaw 525

Well the 525(510cc) KTM is the fastest accelerating motocross bike right now ,so putting the same motor in a ATV would be a good guess.

Why wait ? The Outlaw has the same 510cc KTM Motocross engine already. Not sure why Polaris and KTM call it a 525 though.

true, the ktm525 and ktm 450 both weigh 356 from what i've read so far.
The polaris 450 weighs 365 and the polaris 525 weighs 375lbs.

However the polaris is probably around 1500cheaper (canadian price is same as ds450 which costs 7500 vs the 9000 of the ktm)

Even if the actual ktms use updated engines, and that ktm just sells their older engines to polaris. for 1500 you could easily make the polaris faster

Posted by: crazy1291

well right now you 're just insulting the 400ex and the 660raptor cuz the outlaw525s and outlaw450mxr are both lighter than both the 400ex and the 660. Furthermore, the outlaw 525 IRS is lighter than the 660 and the same weight as the 700

Posted by: pabst660r

they don`t make them anymore...the fastest accelerating stock quad was the suzuki lt500r.....AKA quadzilla.

cluny utility? There goes someone again talking about something they know nothing about.

Posted by: Chickenlips01

depends. The advantage of the IRS is it keeps both tires on the ground. Depends on where you ride and what you do.

Polaris outlaw is a sport quad. See get your facts straight.

Posted by: Chickenlips01

Clunky to those who don't have $$$ to buy one! Outlaw 525, 395lbs

Posted by: bigned1904

the ktm525 is going to be the fastest all around bike stock i think... great motor great suspestion stock. btw have you looked at 700 raptors? i have one and love it. it pretty much have the same suspstion as the yfz450. the only thing that whould keep me away from the ktm is the price $9000+

Posted by: bigned1904

the can-am 450 is suppose to only wiegh 345!

Posted by: Gord420

if you can find an LT500 you will be quick in the start.
