Welcome to the forums.I dont own a TRX but changing a front sprocket is very easy so i would not pay anyone to do it.Just remove your case saver and the process is pretty much self explanatory from there.Any questions you have can be answered by other forum members.

Put it in first gear so the sprocket won't spin. Undo the nut and there is a big washer under it and the sprocket is under that. You may need to slack the chain to give enough room to remove the sprocket. Just change out the sprocket and put it all back together.
You will no doubt need to adjust the chain tension to account for the sprocket change. Procedure is in your owner's manual.
I went down one tooth on my front sprocket on my 450R, and it was a good move. I lost some top speed, but I like having more low end......and first gear is to tall anyway.

Just go out to the garage and do it.....it's absolutely no big deal! Can't imagine what everybody's problem is???? For sure never needed an impact gun............

I'm never big on dunes....I just prefer the open desert. And, I absolutely avoid Glamis on the big weekends!

Hey guys, i am new to the forums so wanted to say whats up. hey i had a quick question, how difficult is it to put on a new front sprocket on my bike. Its a 05 trx450r. is this something i can do myself, or should a shop do it? What tools do i need.

See a fried of mine who is a bike mechanic said that i need an impact gun to get it off, that you cant torque it off. I have heard that toothing it down one in the front sprocket will help out alot with dune riding and trail riding, so i bought the pro renthol front sprocket from Rockymountainatv.com and now everyone is telling me that its very hard to do it on the 450.

Avoid the dunes? I love it out there, never want to leave. I threw that sprocket on there and love it, was so easy took me 15 minutes to put it on there. The hardest part was lining the sprocket up on there. I had my buddy who works for a shop use his impact gun just to save time! Thanks for the help. Thanks free bird, look forward to talking on the forums!
