The Honda 250EX is a superb little machine, and it makes a great "intermediate" quad for an experienced kid. My boys are 13 and 14 and have been on their 250's now for a few years, and they are having enough fun that they aren't asking to step up to anything bigger yet.
Be warned that just like on most every quad, the stock tires are pretty much lame. So, plan on replacing them. We are running the new ITP TracStar radials, and I can't say enough great things about these tires!

I always forget the Blaster because it is now out of production. At your weight, the Blaster would be an excellent choice. Hurry if you want a new one.
Anybody else notice that Yamaha no longer has anything anymore in the "intermediate" class. Will we maybe see a very light medium size replacement for the Blaster based on a 250cc dirt bike engine?????

THe trailerblazer is a lot faster then the 250ex.
But it's also heavier and larger in size.
But if he can handle it and wants a spunky the trailblazer or the blaster would be a good choice but i think they would be a bit too much machine.

How old are you? How long have you been riding? What type of riding are you planning on doing?

Blaster. At your size it's perfect and will go plenty fast for you for a long time.

Id go with the polaris trailblazer 250.Excellent machine i have a 96 trail and ive beaten that machine to death but it keeps on ticken. And there are MANY hop-up parts for when you need something faster.Much more peppy than most other 250's also. But it does lack bottom end.But a primary spring can fix that.I love it.Im 5'11' and 220lbs and it caries me around okay.I put 22inch mudlights on it and made a big diference for mud also. But if you ride trails stock tires are fine.

Go witht he blaster you'll have that thing forever once you get it and you can always mod it to keep up with the big boys once you've out grown your stock power. They are awesome quads no doubt about it.
