They are not as bad as it sounds.........
Compared to a 400ex, yea they are tippy. And as mentioned they are very light in the front end (short swing-arm, massive torque) and require good throttle control.
Maybe they are not the best quad for a newbie, but if you know how to ride they are a fun machine ........

Good friend of mine bought a Raptor. I rode it several times and thought the same thing you do about yours. Didn't see the big deal. About six months later I purchased my YFZ. We would trade on occasion while riding and my opinion quickly changed the other way. I took his around our local MX track for a few laps and couldn't stand it after getting off of mine. Once you've been on something different you will see what everyone is talking about.
For the recored, I think they are great quads for their intended purpose. Just different than what I am used to that's all.

Whether or not I am riding on an MX track doesn't matter. I still corner the same way.

Renegade/outtie are very pricey... The just under a gran more, ppl that have rode/bought 1 can justifly the price.
The 450 Kodiak can still be fun. (although a little motor HP would be better)

The raptor is more tippy when compared to other quads.
My problem with the raptor I had was the front end always wanting to point toward the sky.

I wish I had put an extended swingarm on it.It was a job trying to launch.
Mine had a Graydon pipe,K&N filter,and a wiseco piston.

I realize that on a mx track its gonna be pretty bad but most ppl who ride dont ride on mx tracks.

Hey, I had a 03 Raptor too, and hear ya. I loved mine, I guess maybe it was a little tippier compared to other sport quads, but I never really had a problem either. I recently traded it in. All of my friends were getting tired of getting me unstuck but I didnt want a boring slow boxy looking 4wd either. So I was thinkg about a 450 Wolvering but still slow and boring after being use to riding a 660, then thinking about a Brute Force, a lot of torque there's an idea, but still it
's very big looking, and almost reminds me of a pick up truck. I heard about the new Renegade but havent seen one in person, until I went to see about trading my Raptor for a Brute Force, and all I can say is I'm glad they had a Renegade on the floor. There is only one solution for someone who is use to riding any sport quad but wants a 4wd and all the perks that come with it, and it's call a Can Am Renegade. It is the best of both worlds, but the ultimate versatility comes with the ultimate price tag too unfortunately.
