I was just reading an old issue of ATV action (august 04) the issue with the 450 shootout. Says the stock yfz put out 35.8hp and the 450r with 33.1hp. I was just wondering how accurate those numbers were. I was lead to believe they were more like 10hp more than those numbers. So what&39;s the deal?

they did a dyno run on it. they also said the HRC kit added 10 more hp to the honda, same thing with the GYT-R yfz.

33.1 dont the 400s have that much?

Posted by: snowbuster

just shows ya, dirtwheels is full of more $hit than useful information.

Posted by: snowbuster

since these 450s only have power in the 30s how much do all these 660s (raptor) and 650s (ds) have?

Posted by: snowbuster

So 450s only have 32-37 and the bigger ones have less. Does that mean that the 450s are the most powerful?

Posted by: snowbuster

Uh dude... its only 30ish hp. my little RC car has a .26ci or 4.3cc engine and it has over 2.5hp. I would hardly say technology kicks in.

32-37 range=30ish. unless your saying that if the z has 31 how can the 450s only have a couple more horsepower. my feeling is that the 450s have closer to 37

Yeah... if the 400s have around 31 and the 450s have about 35 then where do the 660s (or all the bog bores) fall? I would be very worried id the 660s were only two or three more horses than the 400s. If the 450s had closer to 37 and the 400s with 31 the 660s might be closer to the 450s making it more like 5-6 more than the 400s, still kinda pathetic but more believable.

well that was really before the quads was road tested i believe so i guess it was a estimate.

check out ctracing and they have dyno on the 450r and yfz while they are stock.

Maybe you wont believe this, but the 450's are pushing a bit more ponnies than the big bores out there!

The big bores, are like 1 or 2 HP beneath the 450's leaving the 450's on top, it's a power to weight ratio comparison, were the 450's win. The engines are so beefed up, that they like to be revved to the moon, they may be 450's. but compression kicks in, cams, and all the technology put to them!

according to ct z400s have 28 and raptors and 450rs have 33, yfz has 35.8, 400ex has 27, DS has 38, predator has 41. Makes me wonder how 250Rs and quadracers would stack up against the 450s in a straight line. My guess is all these numbers are rwhp and you guys are talking crank hp.

The 450's would have to have around 37 because the 660 has 35.6 or 36 hp.I really dont get it.

idk but in a pipe shootout a stock z400 measures at like 31.6 horsepower, or at least thats what it said and the 400ex was at like 28 point something
