I've ridden blasters, a 400ex, a Z, a Raptor and have owned Banshees. If you are looking for some serious thrills consider the 2 stroke demon. It rips for sure, and its manageable in the trails. Sure its not best suited for it but it works, and after riding it for a while you'll grow use to it and know its capabilities. Trust me on one thing, it is the powerslide king, nice and low and with its powerband it will slide all day long. Basic mods perk the motor up too (Toomey T5s lol). The suspension isn't the greatest as its a bit on the harsh side but it works well if you ride it hard. The long wheelbase really helps keep it going straight through whoops. The Z is a really nice quad, especially if you like playing around and riding wheelies forever. It's got a perfect balance point and handles really well. The raptor, well my friend has one and he hasn't had any major issues with it but the thing is strange and will vibrate every bolt out lol. He keeps an eye on things too. The 400ex is nimble and reliable, but isn't really that powerful, a z would be a more modern choice over it.
I'd suggest the Z for trails, the raptor for one who likes a lot of torque and in more open areas, and the Banshee for the person who wants a thrill and rides mostly in more open, not very technical trails.

raptor 660r...

None of the above!

The Suzuki Z400 is the best all-around machine there is!

The Blaster is a kids bike. The Banshee isn't a good jumper or trail bike. The 400EX doesn't have the power of the Z (but does handle great), and the Raptor is to narrow and tippy.

listen scooter, how old are you? 13? no matter, you have alot to learn. boring a motor doesn't give you some ungodly advantage...we do it because the cylinder walls most likely are a little bit scored. I have yet to see a raptor wit 85hp at the wheels, with a stock bore and stroke(do you know what stroke is? its the distance measured from bottom dead center to top dead center of the piston) Are you speaking of a power adder? such as a turbo...then yes, i'm sure you can do that with a stock raptor, but its also been done with a stock banshee...and it made close to 150hp. That was at east coast atv. please pull your head out of your 5th point of contact

a banshee has a 7.5:1 compression ratio(or around there) to run a turbo, to decrease the chance of detonation, you need low compression. therefor the banshee have would be a prime engine to do so, except for one problem, the change in the slight atomosphere everyday, it would have to be rejetted every day, for optimum performance. For me to try to explain compression ratios, reciprocating mass, tdc and bdc, and all that other good stuff that you need to know to get the most out of an engine build, is like a college proffesor trying to explain quantum physics to a monkey.

other than fuel injection, and some chasis mods, that motor is pretty much stock(may have a welded crank, and some better pistons, but whoop-dee-doo)

I won't reply to something unless i have a real good understanding of it...unlike you, mr.juniorhigh

A blaster would work for you. But I would probably buy a raptor. I have rode all of the quads that yoy have mentioned and the raptor is my favorite. It has alot of power but is also nice on the trails. It also has reverse which is a plus.

recon ranger.. i would reccomend u dont talk.. at all

raptor is defintly ur best choice.. either that or go with the banshee because it rocks

Posted by: trailblazerpimp

raptor is the most fun machine i have ever ridden on the trails. its got awesome power and can wheelie whenever. ppl say its tippy but i never once noticed it, never was a problem

Posted by: droz

im prolly picking up a shee soon

i sold my Z400 cuz of reliability issues and i got tired of hauling it off to dealer for stupid repairs

right now im riding a piped 400ex and its as good or better then my Z was

the shee will have basic mods on it and these steering things i found in the newest atv sport mag....supposed to cut the turning radius by 30% and make the quad more stable....i will prolly also put new shocks on it

wouldn't really say a convert.....i need another 2 stroke quad though

first quad was a shee when i was like 13....always loved them and always regretted getting rid of my old one

the 4 stroke bikes are nice for where i ride but ive been able to ride in more open areas where i can really open the bike up and the 400's 4 strokes just lack the pop and speed i crave

the shee will definately be built to be a beast

Yea thats nice,Can you get a banshee to 85hp on stock bore with no nos? The raptor can!!!!!

Posted by: raptor6

A turbo gave a banshee close to 150hp with just the turbo? I am calling B.S on that.

Posted by: Kawizuki400

Sweet Jesus, don't get a Blaster if you are over 5'0'. Your a tall guy, Raptors, and Z400/KFX400s are awesome bikes. Banshee's have the most comfortable seat you will ever sit on in your life and are ultimately custimizable. You do have to learn that power band if you are gonna ride trails though.

Posted by: RDZ350

For drags, the banshee is what you need, but it won't be much fun in tight trails. They really like to rev.The blaster will probably not have enough power for you.The 4-strokes are best in the trails and have respectable power. They respond well to mods. also. The suzuki,kawi,400 are a great all around bike.I think the raptor has more power and responds better to mods.,but needs some suspension work to be more rideable in trails. It is a little tippy stock. Some wheel spacers help here. The 400 ex has proven to have a nearly bullet proof engine, but is down slightly in power compared to the other 400's.Still a good quad though.

Congradulations on the victory,raptor6.I couldn't beat many banshees when I had a raptor.I always had trouble keeping the front end from pointing toward the sky.My banshee would smoke the raptor I had,but to be fair I've got more money in the engine on the banshee than my raptor.I'm not downing the raptor. It had plenty of power.Great torque. They respond well to mods too.Again,congradulations.

A raptor 700 EFI.Haven't heard about that yet.

Posted by: RDZ350

Hip-Hip Hooray!!!!! Another banshee convert.Welcome.O-happy day.

they have the raptor 700 on the yamaha website, go check it out.

I want to get a sport quad really bad. I dont want to get rid of my SP 600 because most of my riding is on trail, with some mudding and deep water involved. I wouldn't use the sport wheeler for racing if i got it. Maybe the occasional drag, but mostly for trail riding and jumping and just having fun. I am about 6'3" and weigh 170 lbs. Would a Blaster be practical for me? I want to get one because they are inexpensive, but an older Bashee would be really nice too. The 400ex is supposed to be a nice all purpose bike and I really like that and the I like the Raptor because of the power it has. Just need a couple of opinions to start deciding. Thanks.

Posted by: Polaris600

I think a Z-400 would be really really nice. But I haven't seen one in action, only the Raptor and that blew me away with its power. I have heard that its first gear is very tall and bad, but the rest seems fine. I don't mind the tippiness so much since im used to utility quads. The Z-400 has good power throughout its RPM line and even though they are nice, I cant' find a decent one within my budget. I think I'll go with the Rapto unless you people sway me to the Suzuki side.

Posted by: Polaris600

I dont know guys....The new Raptor 700 EFI looks unbeliveable. Maybe i'll just save and get a Raptor 660 for now and then upgrade to the 700 in a few years. Thanks for all the help though.

I vote the z-400. Solid all around machine.

Posted by: untouchable350

go with the banshee, lol

Posted by: Hoopie

How about the Predator? Its good at everything.

Posted by: fasterthanyou22

If i had to pick between all of those quads it would come right down to the z and the 660.Just because i own them both.No j/p.But the z is very very stable when it comes to wheelies, jumps, rough trails, hills, and many other things.i would reccommend the z400 over the raptor for somone who hasnt ridden a larger bored sport quad for the majoraty of their riding days. But someone who is experienced, and has owned or ridden a quad like 400ex and banshee or z400 a lot when they ride and has gotten used to the way they handle, then i would recomend the 660.It is a light powerful and good trail bike.It has no rev limiters but the z does.....very fun in reverse, it does like 35...lol....Off the jumps you would really have to get used to the 660 becuz of its longer gears.you would not be able to hit jumps in certain gears or it will over shoot.I did becuz i was used to the z400's gears when i first got it.I hit a 2nd gear jump for the z400, in 2nd gear on the 660.I overshot by about 10 feet and landed on the 2 left wheels and it sucked my leg under the tire...(itp blackwaters...ouch)....for longer jumps it is good, it will stay stable for you as long as you know where to shift your weight. But i hope i helped you guys who are tryin to decide which one of these quads to buy.
