Is Bombardier capable of building anything that comes in under 500 pounds???
Posted by: reconranger
Most people don't really need a huge, heavy, utility (even the best of these things really show their farm work tractor heritage!), but could use 4wd once in a while in case they get into trouble. What most could use is a light, 2wd/4wd selectable SPORT BIKE. Kind of like the Wolverine concept, but evolved into a true hybrid sport ute. But it has to be light!
Free advice for any of you factory R&D guys out there! Just PM me for more tips.
I am an R&D guy in a way. I do medical research, which in a way is a type of reverse engineering. We see how nature works, and then we copy it and exploit it to do lab test or cure diseases, etc. You Suzuki guys know what I mean. Honda comes out with a Recon, you come out with an Ozark. Honda comes out with a 250EX, you come out with a 250 too. Honda has a 400EX, you come out with a Z400 (outstanding engine!). Honda and Yamaha have a 450, and no doubt we will see one from you soon. Ever get tired of just being followers???

You have it absolutely correct, this is a campagin of sorts....to get to the public as many quads as the market will suppport and a variety that they ask for.
Those who dismiss me would prefer the fantastic array of sport and performance quads available through most of the 90's???
Yes lets return to 2 years of the Quadracer/Quadzilla, RIP 1992, the Banshee, Warrior, the mighty Mojave, the ever potent 300ex and to our rescue, the 1999 400ex. Yes, lets close our minds and return to the "cast iron" era of sport atv's.
The Phantom....says, "Not on my watch!"...
I'd settle for the 80's and a 250r.

Dude, your full of BS! Someone might have a source from a manufacturer or two. But NO ONE has source from all of them, quit stirrin sh!t!
LOL, I liked the Dungeons and Dragons comment! LMAO

I want the manufacturer's to come out with something different. While I do like the 450 MXer's, I want to see some different sizes big and smaller cc's with high performance and new ideas. I would really like to see a 2-stroke high performance quad come out, I here they have a way to make em burn cleaner that a thumper now.
Phantom, why talk like a dam weirdo?

So basically your theory is the the Manufacturers should all produce similar competitive quads. step up to the plate and give more options on the menu and let the buyer determine what should be had Im down. Would you add a 2007 Yamaha YFZ1000r to your list

You guys should really consider what the phantom is tryin to do here.. What do we all want from quads? More power, Maybe a competitive model from our prefered manufacturer. better handling, decent suspension when we drop 8 grand on a quad instead of having to buy 2500 in crap to make it handle for beans? maybe they could put decent tires instead of bein cheapasses and buyin junk bulk tires. Lots of possibilities peoples.. I for one would like to see quads come with a lil more adjustability. they aint one size fits all.

Not me man. I want the Manufacturers to tell the SPCC to goto hell and start producing ORVs equivilant to their street bikes.

The funny part is that I don't really want any of those quads in your signature, lol. Both myself and my oldest son already have a YFZ 450 though, and my youngest son turns nine next week, and he really wants that YFZ 250 in a bad way Hint, hint, hint, to the Yamaha factory rep that might read this: If you build it, you already have one sold. That would be nine Yamaha's in our garage by the way, so Mr. Yamaha rep owes me one, and I think he should tell his boss to build that YFZ 250 now instead of later.

Or at least equivilant to their own dirt bikes... Take a look at the technology on a 2005 YZ compared to a 2005 YFZ: The YZ has an all aluminum frame, titanium footpegs, etc, etc, etc. The YFZ blows away other ATVs, but even the YFZ "blows" compared to its current dirtbike counterpart.

I hope by my listing the future of the sport/race atv market in my signature, I am not letting the preverbial cat out of the bag....I'm sure I will be dismissed by many, revered by few as some of these model "rumors" are as old as the dirt we ride on, but there is always some truth in rumors, as they need to start from somthing. Some might say these are never going to see the light of day...I say, stay tuned....as I reveal that which I can reveal, and hint at that which I can not disclose.

Ok, let me pose this question to everyone here. If there is access to information in a given industry that can be had by someone, even if it's rumblings, rumors, sightings etc. would you like to hear of it? Just because there are those who wish to discredit me by assuming that no one can have knowlege about many things, never read a Road and Track, or Motor Trend. If you have, then you know there are those who spend their time uncovering what new automotive gems are on the horizon. I have no photographic proof and never have claimed as much but when you see at least half of these atv's on a showroom floor in the next couple of years, you'll look back and see that I was right AND wrong.
If you think I'm just stirring to pot to gain attention, you'd be half right. But the attention is to be focused on the industry and manufacturers as they are here, like you and I to understand the market's needs and desires. Failure to voice one's opinion's and wish lists will cause our sport to stagnate, and that my frined will never happen so long as I am around.
The Phantom......never played Dungeons and Dragons.....and never will...

That my friend, is quite funny, though I never knew that taking a creative approach to presenting one's opinion in a creative way could be so confounding to so many people. I hope that my time here opens the minds of the people here to the fact that I do have a resolute purpose for posting what I do and how I do it.
Thanks for your replies, each and every one.

You see, this is my purpose, to get discussion going about what we want!!! I began atv riding in 1983. Yep dad cam home with brand new ATC 70,110,185s and the 25r for himself. Been hooked ever since. It was the golden age of ATV's. Now we're on our way to the platinum age and yes I strive for more size variety along the same lines of the motorcycle counterparts.
The Phantom.......will come up with somthing later....

I think reconranger is conrrect on asking that Suzuki not be followers but leaders...and they have, (I await those who will say, that "Suzuki created the quad segment") but now they are like a sniper, they see what is there and do it better as long as it fits their needs. Honda was all fat and happy till the z-400 came along and clipped their wings a little.
As far as the sport-ute catagory, they indeed need a lighter, medium displacement quad that is more for the adventurer as opposed to the overtly heavy scaled down f-350's some quads have become....what's next, diesel quads????(Oh I forgot, Polaris tried that one a few years back.)
The Phantom....Hopes you all had a nice weekend....
