RAZR.

Posted by: mahnster

I have never heard anything bad about the Klaws, I am going to try them for my next tire.

Posted by: mahnster

The Knarlys are made of a harder compound than the Klaws so they wont hook up as well on hardpack. Should do pretty good in the wet, loose stuff though. I heard something about Kenda coming out with a Knarly MX or something along that lines, it was a Knarly with a softer compound. I think that would make for an awesome tire. I have yet to see it though, maybe i am just imagining things again.

Yep..this thread states ALL AROUND sport tire..I can tell you now the Razr radials on my Pred kick the snot out of my Holeshot XC's in snow...sand..loose pack...mud..cant compare the two..buy them and you will see what I mean!

Razr2 are a sweet tire for trails..same with HD Holeshots..but they cant be that good in sand at all..IMO.

I know my XC's just want to dig...and not propel like my Razr radials.

IMO they ARE the best ALL AROUND sport tire.

Im racing on them this season..I'll make sure to report my findings here...

What about the irazor? I thought radials were the best.

Posted by: warmdye

Hey heatseeker,

So if the irazors aren't the best all around sport tire what type of terrain are they the best in? These irazors are a mystery to me.

RAZR 2 or Holeshot XCR's. HD's are too heavy.

Honestly any tires thats got knobbies and a square profile is gonna be good for your conditions. I have Razr2's all the way around and if your always in loose stuff there pretty good. they get excellent traction in dirt. however i will not own another set. because they are not "ALL-Around" tires. and I dont like to fronts on hard stuff. they rail nice in loose stuff but have to much rool in the hard pack. Holshot HDs will be the next tires on my quad. I ran XCTs for few years on another quad and they performed great,

No matter where i go or what kind of terrian it is my Razr 2's have never let me down. Best tires on earth.

Agreed. Get the XCR's!!

Get the razr ll those are the tires i wanted but a little too much $$$ for me now so that's why i was looking at the razr. My firend has them on his 400ex and they are sick, lots of trackion and they throw some roost, they corner great and hook up sweet, many GNCC racers use them so they r good all around.

HD, there is no substitute, razr's are overrated.

i like my XCT's alot but pretty sure im gonna check out those irazors next, they look like a good agressive tire

I have 20in. Klaws on my Mojave, and they ROCK! Kenda has the Knarly in an 18in. MX version also, as someone stated before. I got the Klaws, because they looked like a good tire, and I hadn't head any complaints about them. Plus, they were cheaper than Holeshots or Razr's.

After today, I realized I REALLY need better tires on the Z. I still have the OEM's front and rear, and they did not stop slipping all day in the rain/mud/sand. So, I ride mostly trails, but want to keep a lower (20" maybe 19") profile than most suggested trail tires. I also ride fast, competitively and corner hard. I'm in loose terrain mostly, sand and sometimes mud. But not enough to get paddles. I have Razr's on the Warrior and they're nice, but want a bit more bite. Some I was looking at:

Razr II's
I-Razr's
Kenda Klaw's
Kenda Knarly's
ITP Holeshot MXR4's
ITP Holeshot HD's

What do you guys think? Kenda's are cheapest, then ITP's and Razr's. Price does matter a bit.

Posted by: strubby

Yeah, I'm hearing equal positives about the Razr2's and ITP HD's. I started new thread in the right section though http://forums.atvconnection.com/messageview.cfm/catid/18/threadid/442243.cfm

My friend has the Klaws in 22" on his Blaster and they hook up a little better than my Razr's. The Razr2's are a different story, but I have no hands on with them. For the prices, I'm still thinking Klaws before Razr2's. What about the Knarly's? They look like they'd have great hook up in sugar sand/mud, but might be on the heavy side as well. I'm still undecided.

Seems everyone has their own opinions. I wish I would have read your post earlier Heatseeker. I ordered the HD rears, and XC (whichever has the 21" size) fronts. I agree about the Razr fronts, awesome handling in high speed soft terrain, bad in hard packed trails. I'm mostly in the FL sugar sand, so hopefully the HDs will do the job. I may consider I-Razrs when I have to replace the rears. Heatseeker, the TLD comes with I's right? The one I rode DID hook up nicely.

Supposedly, the radial design makes them wear better than the others. Well I rode on my HDs yesterday. They're pretty sick. It's all sugar sand around here, and I was moving from a stop like I was on packed dirt. I can even stand it up in fourth in the sand. I was trying donuts in the sand, and it was hard to keep a tight circle because the front end wasn't touching much. I'll have to get used to that. They definitely grip.

Negatives are they're definitely heavy. I had regular Razrs on OEM Yamaha wheels and these are twice as heavy on Douglas .190s (about same as OEM). I think the overall increase in traction outrules this though. I'm happy. I'm not sure what I'd like to try next.

XC's all the way, they hook up nice on my warrior

my brothre has Razr II s (in 22s) and those are HEAVYYYYY and the hole shot HDs (my next tire) are lighter by alot i think
