A puff of oil smoke when an engine is first started is caused by worn valve stem seals or worn valve stems themselves.
It's harmless.

I have a 03 raptor that puffs a little blue smoke at the first start up of the day...and does it sometime untill its opened up and will no do it again..is this normal...they quad is all stock.....am i heading for trouble??????????? thanks guys

you may have bad rings when you rev the motor there is enough heat the make the rings seal
