Is it required by law to be registered in Massachusetts when using my ATV to service private property (my own property) like snow removal ect? I know no cops are going to say anything, but it's for coverage by my homeowner insurance. They asked me that question when I was trying to find out what coverage I had as a homeowner.

I read ORV registration policy on the RMV website for MA and I really didn?t see anything saying about registration other than if you are using it in a state forest. If someone could point me to a document or something that would be great.

Thanks for help

According to MA law, if you operate your ATV only on private property that is owned by you, then you don't need to register it. The second it leaves your property, it needs to be registered. I've never registered mine and I don't really worry about it. They also say that you need a homeowner's permission to ride within 150 ft. of their home.
