Generally, this is like purchasing a car. You pay the sales tax when and where you register you vehicle. I purchased my ATV in NH, and did not pay sales tax as NH does not have sales tax. But I did not register in MA where I live as there is no real ATV riding here. If I did I would be subject to the 5% sales tax just like my automobile. Florida maybe different, but I doubt it.

i am looking into purchasing an atv in tenesse, the dealer does not charge a sales tax. i live in fl, and want to ride at some ORV parks. i am pretty sure i have to register my quad to do this. My question is when i register it do i have to provide sales tax documentation, and if so if i havn't already payed it will i have to pay floridas just to register my quad. any info would be helpfull, even if you have done this in other states. thanks alot

Not to worry. You probably will get a tax bill from Florida. I bought a quad in Mississippi and got my tax bill in my home state of Alabama about 2 months later.

Sounds like you did some wheeling and dealing. Congrats on the new ride.
