After failing to find any record (through a FOIA request) of our orv advisory board having anything to say in regards to this plan's formation....our chairman appears with this announcememnt on the state web-site (his first ever) after the first official comment period had already ended. (and I had filed another FOIA request seeking commentary from his board and other Michigan orv groups on the draft plan itself).
Please get your comments in ASAP if you have anything to say about how our nation's largest trail system is managed for our children. This same guy has declared that the state is soon looking at 25% more trails on the ground (a figure the state claims to know absolutely NOTHING about) and that 'somebody' will have over $4 million of our long-frozen sticker money spent down by 2008 (with the manner in which these funds will be spent just as mysterious a matter as where all these trails will be located, funded, maintained, etc.).
If this situation doesn't illustrate why I get so frustrated when modern day orv users sit at these meetings with glazed looks in their eyes and an apparent inability to speak up and demand answers to these kind of questions before these guys sneak off to not be heard from again for another 3 to 6 months....my efforts to even so much as shame you into action have been for naught.
Get involved and do it NOW.
