In case you haven't been to Miami, or don't know, they are doing MAJOR work up
there. They are close to being done with 3 trails (at least the major portion)
of them. South Express, Kempe and Halfmile. Powerstroke01 and I took the southern
section of S. Express as it was awesome. They took out the ruts (yeah, I know
it removes some difficulty, but trails were getting too torn up) but it's
AWESOME now. Nice flat trails. They have water bars that work as cool jumps.

Anyways, they really need help up there. They are focussing on Miami right
now, and will expand to other areas of the forest (the Bass Lake Ranger
District is like 390,000 acres!)

To help, please contact Linda at the Bass Lake Ranger District office in North
Fork at 559-877-2218 ext. 3200. The first day of work is going to be May 14th.
Please contact Linda so that she can get the volunteer forms to you and you
can get them back to her ASAP as there is some kinda of sign-off required by
the ranger up there.

Probably work all summer long most likely. I'll know more next weekend. The plan is to fix all of the trails. Some are listed under 2005 and others under 2006. But, if they are using State OHV funds then that couldn't actually mean July 1 of this year (based on fiscal years.) But I know they are closing some of the trails why the soil settles after being worked. There is a lot of other work to be done. A lot of water bars need to be cleaned up and fixed so they work correctly.

After they do Miami, they will be moving onto other parts of the forest where OHVs operate.

RD call Linda and ask her. Tell her what you can and can't do. I'm sure they might be able to find something for you to do. Plus you have 3 able bodied slaves err I mean children.

MWQ everything is better when it's wet.

I think they are looking at the 2nd or 3rd Sat of the month. I'm hoping for 2nd as I have prior commitments to the 3rd Sat. I believe it would be like 1/2 day of work or so. Then ride the second half (or do whatever we want to).
