Helmet Required
The state of New Mexico wants to keep kids safe when they ride ATV's.
Friday, April 08, 2005 — This week Governor Bill Richardson signed a bill that requires riders under 18 wear helmets and goggles. They will also have to take a safety class before they can get on an ATV. People who own off-road vehicles, snow mobiles and motorcycles will also now have to register their vehicles with the state. The bill goes into effect in 2006.
