DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! All four of our So. Calif. national forests (Cleveland, Angeles, Los Padres, San Bernardino) are undergoing plan revisions. You have until August 11 to make your comments. See: http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/scfpr/
Quotation from the management plan-
"Goal 3: Provide outdoor recreation opportunities [USDA Objective 5.1]
In particular, it is critical that we improve management of off-highway vehicle access and use on National Forest System lands to preserve high-quality experiences for all recreational users." DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THEY INTEND TO DO US ANY FAVORS, DOES IT???
In your comments, state specifically what EXISTING ROUTES you would like to KEEP OPEN, and which NEW ROUTES you would like OPENED UP. Why? I talked to a Ranger this weekend, and I was inquiring why a particular route wasn't open. Know what he said??? NOBODY EVER ASKED TO HAVE IT OPENED, the last time they developed a forest plan! They aren't going to give us anything if we don't ask for it, and you can bet there is going to be a flood of anti-off-road comments from those who oppose us.
The San Bernardino Mtns. have a few rangers that support off-road use, so we at least have a fighting chance. What we need to do is A FLOOD OF COMMENTS SUPPORTING OFF-ROAD USE, AND SUPPORTING YOUR FAVORITE ROUTES!
Please post this information everywhere you can!
