H.R. 3247 is designed to:
· Help prevent additional Federal lands and waterways from being closed to recreational use.

· Protect lands and waterways managed by the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from destructive individuals and groups, by giving these agencies the power to impose the same significant fines for irresponsible behavior.

H.R. 3247 seeks to penalize only those individuals or groups who choose to misuse our public lands and not those who abide by land use regulations.

The legislation also calls for the fines to be used to pay for repairs of the damage caused by irresponsible users and for educational programs to inform the general public about the regulations governing recreational use of Federal lands.

The educational program is necessary because the four agencies that manage Federal lands have different regulations and policies and often lack adequate resources for outreach programs.

isn't all this state riding stuff a bunch of bull, why are they going to tax fourwheelers and dirtbikes, the gas they use, the equipment and then not let us ride anywhere. something definatley needs to be done. we should write a letter to our representatives and legislators about this type of stuff. we need a place to ride.
