I was going to get one of those.. but for $90 for 3.3 gallons - that is a complete Joke!! I have a 2.2 gallon plastic gas jug that cost a mere $9. It has about 150 ride miles on it and hasn't leaked once! I keep it full almost to the rim, so not much sloshing...
Woodrat, you can even get Tempo's 3 gallon tank which would be smaller than the 6 gallon.

Hey Woods.. I haven't fallen into the ATV Accessory trap... IE Expensive Hardboxes, Gas Tanks, Expensive Rims etc... Even some of the ATV armor out there.. especially Yamaha accessories are prices just a bit crazy high...
I see you use your ATV for logging, you might want to use a chain around the log instead of wrapping your winch cable around it and hooking back onto the cable. Your cable won't last too long if you keep doing that. You could also use a tree-saver strap and a D-shackle. Northern tools has a great selection of them and I would get the D-shackles from Ebay

You may even want to consider some snatch blocks (pulleys) so you can do more of a straight pull on with your winch cable.
2.8T Pulley
I modified the hook end of these pulleys by removing one of the "E" clips and cross drilling a 1/8" hole and installing a hair pin cotter. That way I can quickly remove the hook to run my winch cable through and then hook up to a Tree-saver strap to re-direct the winch cable...

Alternatively you can get a common marine type fuel tank with a capacity of 6 gallons, Here's One Example, which still has a low/wide shape good for securing on an ATV rack, at less than a quarter of the price of the 3.28 gallon tank on cabelas.com specifically made for an ATV rack.

Yes, I see the 3 gal. tank made by Tempo, and there's a similar one made by Moeller Marine Here.
This shape which makes them stable on a small boat is certainly better for strapping down on an ATV rack than the typical upright gas can ... at least it's a sensible solution as far as economical mass-produced fuel jugs go!

Thanks CraZySteve, you're right, but I didn't have a chain with me the day I took those pics, though I have several. I"m not worried about hurting the logs which I'm cutting up for firewood, but I do carry a sling when trail riding.

But, I think I need to stay with the flat unit. Then I can make a storage compartment to sit on top. When camping I like to take everything except the kitchen sink! A toggle switch lets me turn off the hreadlight to use all available space. The back has a utility box so rear storage is limited. Up front I carry a chain saw, cooler, camp stove, pots, pans etc and clothes, tent, sleeping bag and food in back.
FYI - I was riding my wheeler with my dog Sam in the back the other night and passed a brown bear with her 2 cubs on the road. The timing was perfect because just as I passed she was leading them into the woods. I was able to get a rare look from about 20 feet. They were beautiful!

Another option...you can get a Tamarack Low Center Front box--it has optional fuel cans or coolers--so you can use it for fuel one time and food/beverages another. Very practical. And check out the testimonial page on the website--this stuff will last you forever. (2 year warranty--where else in the ATV business to you see that?)
