I picked up a siphon hose at a truckstop. It has a metal end with a marble in it and you shake it and it'l start the siphon w/o drinking any.

Try this. Take a shop rag and wrap it around the hose into a ball. Put the balled up rag over the top of the hole for your gas cap. Hold it in place real tight so air won't leak out and blow into the hose instead of sucking on it. The preasure you put in the tank will force the gas through the hose. Once it's flowing, take the rag off so the tank can get some air.
If you have a compressor you can stick the air hose in the tank and cover the opening with the rag. Then just let enough air into the tank so the preasure keeps the fuel flowing.
If you insist on sucking on the hose try it with Exon gas that has detergent in it. That is the nastiest tasting gas there is.

I actually thought the same thing at first. Syphoning from one quad to another seems slow. D'you go to a can?

Oh. I did go to a can after a couple trys. Well actually it was a bottle. I didnt have a empty gas can around and I had ran out of gas in my Z and the only other source of premium was from the blaster's tank. It wouldnt syphon very well from quad to quad and went really slow if it went at all. Hopefully i wont have to syphon againl. I have a can here now.
Yeah, syphons have to go from UP to DOWN. The larger the difference in heights, the faster it syphons.

lmmfao i know exactly what you were going through i did that once when i was about 17 and i thought maybe if i went out and drank alot of beer that night it would get rid of the taste or at least i would get drunk enough where i didn't notice it well i was wrong. when i syphon gas now i blow in the hose first then suck and it will come through faster so when it gets about 6 inches from my mouth i pull off and the momentum of the gas is usually enough to keep it going.

Ive done that a few times, now i only use a clear hose so you can see the gas.

lol, i used to have to do that, than i found this thing at my grndmas hosue that u stick into the gas tank and just pump it like a basketball pump and it syphons it into something else.

I was running low on gas when i was riding my Z so i fugured i would syphon some gas from my blaster to the Z. i got a hose and attempted to syphon the gas. I couldnt get it to flow at first so i tryed sucking a little longer. i got a little gas in my mouth and it tasted pretty bad. the last time i did it i sucked a bit too long tho... MAN IS THAT A BAD TASTE! my gosh... first thing once it happened my eyes started watering really bad and my head started hurting. i felt a little dizzy. its a horrible taste. anyone know what im talking about. sorry. kinda a random thread. lol. i think i swallowed some of the premium. blehhhhhhhh. now evertime i burp i can taste it. nasty... i dont mind the smell of gas but this is bad!

Ya, too bad it wasnt a clear tube.
I think what made it so bad is that if when i swallowed a little bit the first thing i did was cough and then spit out what I could and take a deep breath. Gas is very volatile so it evaporates very quickly and when you breath in the gas in your mouth vaporizes and fumes up your nose which burns. Oh well. It was worth getting the gas into my Z to ride longer.

When I was a kid it seemed like my dad was always siphoning gas from one old snowmobile to another. He would always get some in his mouth and he'd curse a little, spit a few times, take a few steps back and light up a Winston to get the taste out of his mouth.

LOL Been there done that, but nowadays I go the work smarter not harder route. Turn the fuel off on the blaster then disconnect the fuel line from carb, run it into your gas can and turn to reserve. You can also get that bulb at a marine store (Boats, not the military) that goes in line on the fuel line. It's meant to be a primer, but makes a great siphon tool.
