Im not a huge foot ball fan, but I dont think the raiders have even won back to back superbowls let alone 4 in a row.
That is correct MWQ, they have actually won Super Bowl 11 32-14 over the Vikings, Super Bowl 15 27-10 over the Eagles, and Super Bowl 18 38-9 over the Redskins when they were the LA Raiders.

Could it be Norv Turner as HC?
Posted by: Slinger
Pro football sucks, period. College ball is where it's at. I could be just ja little aded over the whole Saints b.s.. I can't stand their owner and HOPE they leave the COUNTRY care less about the state. I think a lot of people here in Louisiana are tired of them.
Posted by: Slinger
3rd rate players? I don't get it. Pros play for a check and students play for pride. Big difference in motivation.
Posted by: Slinger
You must be unaware of the performance of the Packers, Texans, Saints, Lions, Rams, Cardinals,....... From experience, I can tell you most scholarships don't get you very far.
Anyway, Haslett is out.....finally. Maybe with our second pick in the draft we can get someone sensible like Leinart. That'd be nice. Now if we could only get another owner!
Posted by: Slinger
As "professionals" the talent level had better be higher, but the game is vastly different and more interesting on the collegiate level. Things like free agency and contract disputes and owners fleecing taxpayers and 80 million a year players who aren't happy with their paycheck have just about killed it for me.
Anyway, to each his own but New York ain't goin' nowhere. Carolina vs. the Colts is my prediction.
Posted by: Slinger
Okay, Garrett. I've got to give the Pats their props, they are hard to beat this time of year. REAL hard to beat.
Posted by: Slinger
Joe Gibbs may have the 'Skins ready. Anybody like them?
Posted by: Slinger
That's from being in a weak conference, nothing to do with the playoffs.
I guess this superbowl will be a repeat of two years ago.
Posted by: Slinger
Manning s NEVER gonna win the big one. Never.
Posted by: Slinger
I know the NFC was weak but the Seahawks DOMINATED the Panthers. Seahawks are gonna spoil it for the Steelers unless there is just that BIG a disparity between the two conferences. Anyway, the Saints still suck. Oh, well.
Posted by: Slinger
If I hear that stupid Stewart Scott say, "As cool as the other side of the pillow." I'm gonna puke.
Posted by: Slinger
Go Blue Jays!
Posted by: Slinger
I'm kind of a Steelers fan but I can recognize that the Seahawks are getting screwed by the refs. Man what poor calling.
Posted by: Slinger
Ginnis are you on speed?
Posted by: Slinger
Did NOT break the plane.
No push off on Seattle.
They even tried to screw Hasselback with not being down by contact. I personally think they backed off on that one because the game was already decided.
How can you chop block the ball carrier and you'e the quaterback?
On the gimmick play the Steelers pulled, they had an illegal man downfield.
I like the Steelers but the game was obvious b.s from the get-go. Damn, I hate how these officials are becoming more and more obvious with the fix. Three bad calls and you're out would be a nice new rule.
This is the perfect example why college is better. If you stink up the field with bad calls, at least the the NCAA acts like they review the game later. I saw where some ACC officials were suspended.
Posted by: Slinger
There's an interesting article and poll on MSN.com. The poll is just what I expected it to be.
Posted by: Slinger
I get tired of the retirement talk. The media will kill that subject. Look at Brett Favre. They have him thinking about it even though he can still play. Their reason is all his picks this season and lack of touchdowns. I say he has all those picks because he doesn't have anyone on his team and he's forced to try and make something happen. The Mike Sherman firing is about three years too late.
The push off is bogus because their was more contact before the call. What about the holding call? You can call holding during EVERY snap. It's always there. Hope the Steelers are happy with that crappy officiating performance. The Steelers were the third best team on the field.
Posted by: Slinger
No, that would be Elway when he choked against the 49ers. The Bears defense couldn't 3-and-out the Colts and that's where the game was lost. 58 minutes between offensive possessions will make any team cold.
Posted by: Slinger
Yeah, that ought to screw 'em for a while. He couldn't do crap at Buffalo.

I was sitting there going, we lost he can't miss again. Then the kick in OT it was up, it looked good....., I went to change the channel and my wife screams, "he missed again".
The giants won, but the kicker is a loser. That is how it should read.

It's funny, when Seattle played them, it was the kicker that gave us the win. A whole team can lose when one person has a bad day.

That was ugly. I wonder where our frickin kicker went. I think he was on the sideline already, sippin hot cocoa.

If it wasn't a safety it would have been a touch down. It was crazy watchin the 400 times it was replayed.

Haven't you learned that you can't talk about that in the "other atv topics" section?
We will be at the bar in time to see the end, or the highlights.

Its ok TPR, our season ended, too. Why does a kicker make a 49 yard field goal in over time, when you want him to miss??????

I guess we'll have to wait for the injury report to see if he really did something, but he sure was showing it on the sidelines. Don't think it would have hurt to put in Romo, considering the results we got.

The NFL won't do anything as it is not an NFL matter. I guess you could fine him. He only got what, around 25 mil for a signing bonus.
If anything happens, it will be to USC through sanctions. Bush will still make millions, and he'll have forgotten all about this, just about time he goes for a new contract with the Saints.

The blame for the frenzy on this one falls squarely on the media.
No telling how many Neilson points, newspapers or magazines they sold by just running with the story.

I think his doing well will carry over big time to the next draft. At least that's one less spot to have to worry about. Running backs are looking good (enough) and receiver wise, we're pretty well set. So, offensive line, hopefully will get a big makeover.

He was throwing fits the whole game. I don't care what anybody says, TO is no where close to Shockey or Antonio Bryant with the temper tantrums. Yet they don't get the press. Go figure.
No where near the talent either. BR>
Still don't make it right for any of them though.

This is one I have to take my hat off too. Mainly because of the number of games he played to break it.

10-6 is gonna be good enough for our division.

Well Romo made the Pro Bowl.
He's having what I like to call a Roethlisberger season. "IF" the Cowboys do make it to the Super Bowl, and "IF" they win, someone should tell him to stay away from a Hyabusa.

Get this, a guy I work with knows the producer of the Cowboys Huddle show here in Dallas. So, he has a few items to get auctioned for charity, plus has a donation for a charity Romo is affiliated with.
Well, Romo shows up in a limo, and they (my friend, Romo and a few other people) are talking. He said Romo is pretty much just a regular guy. Now this is on Tuesday, the day he was named to the Pro Bowl. Anyway, Romo is all excited because the limo he rode in was last used by Carrie Underwood. That had him just as excited as the Pro Bowl. I guess he doesn't see himself as a celbrity yet. Just hope he stays that way.
And I hope he took a good wiff of the seats, for all of us.

Heard part of a conversation on the radio this morning. DJ was talking about how he was going to the Pro Bowl. Said he got a letter in the mail, and all he had to do was go to a website, click on a few things, and he got tickets. Then they wondered if T.O. got one too. BR>
Got me to wondering just how many players did get something like that in the mail. It's a mass mailing, and a computer doesn't know who the name it generates is.
Wonder if Burress got one too??

Really? I thought it was an awesome game. It was very exciting, going back and forth. I was on the edge of my seat. personally, I like the lower scoring games that look like both teams are having a tough time, because they are pretty equally matched.
And I got to say, I was watching LT in amazement. Dam, is he good. I even caught myself smiling watching him just smoke our guys, just cause he's so dam good. I do feel bad for him, because he was pretty much their whole offense and with talent like his, you'd like to see him in the big one.
I don't understand hating the pats though, well besides the dance thing- but that's not really the usual for the pats, and like I said before I think they were just throwing it back in their faces. They have come a long way in these last few years.
It just seemed like the chargers were doing everything in their power to give the game to the patriots. And every time the patriots got another freebee it seemed to me like they figured they didnt want to win that way. i could be wrong and didnt watch all of it but i got that same feeling watching the seahawks/bears too. There was no sense of urgency until the last couple of minutes.
I only hate the raiders.

Let's see, all the sports media said the Redskins were the hottest team in tne NFL.
They won 5 straight games to make it into the playoffs. The Seahawks won.
The sports media said the Panthers are the hottest team in the NFL, they've won six straight road games. The Seahawks slaughtered them.
The sports media says the Steelers are the hottest team in the NFL. They beat the #3, #2 and #1 AFC seeds.
Do you see a pattern here?
The Seahawks would have won 15 in a row by now if it wasn't for a meaningless end of the season loss to Green Bay where 90% of the starters sat on the bench.
Who really is the hottest team in the NFL?
I'd say the Seahawks!
