Biggest thing you could do is get rid of the rev limiter and install stiffer springs. Used to be some guy that went by batman that sold kart hop up kits claimed he bumped the engines from 3600 rpms to between 5-6k.

gear ratio is extremely low on tractors built for power, not speed, if its a hydrostatic trans. there is not much you can do.... but if its manual shift, you can change the gearing, the gearing is probably small to big gear, the engine has the small gear and the dif. has the big gear. my tractor is a kubota it tops out at 11mph.

i got pop's 86' JD 4450 up to about 30 down a really step hill on pavement one time and the front end was bouncin' like it gots hydraulics. Also, I had a wheel horse riding mower and used to drag race my neighbor on his JD riding mower...my secret weapon...hooked a peice a string up to the trottle on the engine and pulled it past the rev limiter....gave it a little extra kick and enough to whoop my neigbor's a$$...i HIGHLY recomend this as a past time event for any time or place....even better with a 30 pac

my friend has a murray riding its hydrstatic mower with a 12.5 hp motor and he got a bigger front pully on it and it runs at least 10-15mph
