Old topic, yes; you might find some good stuff in the archives, using the "Search" function.
My Germond Sales folding tailgate-cum-loading-ramp works great; whatever you get, make sure you use some positive method for fastening the ramp to the truck bed for safety's sake (e.g., cable, chain, rope, strap, hooks, etc.).

I picked up a set of 6' x 14" aluminum ramps, rated at 1200# on Ebay for $69.99, had 7.5' for $99.99.
Email me for the email address of the gentlman I received them from. Not sure I can post it here.

Aluminum ramps are well worth the price. Light and portable. Folding ramps give you the added security of knowing you won't drive off the inside edge of the ramp.

Go to Lowes.......They sell the same tri fold ramps as Cabelas. A little cheaper also.

i will say, i went the cheap route when i first bought mine and did the 2x10's with the kit, ended up costing $20...(got everything at discount, friend on inside)... but i hate them,, when the tires are really slick, i can't get up to the back of my full size dodge,, plus i made them extra long to decrease angle.. still can't always get up..
lesson: pay more now... save later.. get alumnium.. lighter, better traction, more durable..

Before I got a trailer I built my own out of 2 2x10's and I built the pieces that go on the ends, but you can buy those fairly cheap. Worked great and will hold a pretty good load.

i use 2 2x12x8 oak boards with the ramp ends from northern hydraulics,i drilled 2 holes through the aluminum ends and into my tail gate and use 2 3/8 bolts as anchor pins and nailed shingles on for traction

I went down to the local welding shop, and asked them to build a set for me. It cost $75.00 and was completed in a few hours. Works great.

A great alternative to trailers is the gator ramp. It runs about 700.00 or less for fullsize trucks. It's found at multiple sites so just use your web browser to search under gator ramp. JON

The Alum. Tri-Fold ramps from Cabelas are good quality, and fold up nice too. They are API brand, the same co.that makes treestands. Somewhere around $119.95 plus s&h. I've had mine for about a year now and have used the $hit out of them. No Complaints!

DUDE, stay away from the board deal(unless absolutely necassary!!!,)That was the first thing I tried, They were 2x10's with strong steel tailgate straps and some wire mesh an the face for anti-slip traction. Yea it worked, BUT its NOT SAFE!! If you have to load or unload at night or in the rain, your taking a HUGE risk of the machine(and you) comming off the sides of the ramps. You spent that much $ on your machine, dont go cheap on the ramp!!!
