Id get the blaster. Good machine to learn clutch on, great for trail riding.

I would take the recon anyday over that 6 month lasting 2 stroke motor. The blaster might have a little more pep but when the recon is running 10 years down the rode and that 2 stroke need a rebuild which one is more fun now.

Recon any day. It has racks to do more than just ride, shaft drive for less mantaince, auto clutch, and it will last longer.

I don't know why you would even compare these two bikes, but I would take the Blaster. If I were into hunting or farm work and such, I would choose the recon.

My Blaster is 5 years old and has been riden very hard without one single problem. Very reliable machine and very fun. It just depends on what kind of riding you want to do.

I would choose the recon. I think that the blaster is very chinsy. I don't trust the mechanical brakes on it. I have never ridden a recon. But it is a Honda so I would choose it.

Well, depends on what your going to do. MX-Blaster XC-Blaster Hills- Blaster Drag-Blaster Utility- Recon The Blaster is made to be a bike you can play around on and also be very competative. The Recond half sport half utility, in other words a sport/utilty;)

Blaster is a emtremly reliable motor and even though its a 2-stroke you DON NOT have to rebuilf it ever 6 months. The only people that have to rebuild their motor ever 6 months are people that ride their atv extremly hard. Just because its a 2-stroke people assume the worst. State what you know, not what you guess.

Lets face it, the Blaster is a sport quad and no matter how sporty the Recon is, the Blaster is still sportier. For like work and stuff, the Recon is obviously way better. It all depends on wether your a hard core sport ATVer or a recreational rider.

my girlfriend has a y2k recon, and i have a 96 blaster that i bought cheap to sell and make a few bucks, id take the recon for whatever riding you do, yes, i would actually race a recon at a mx track before i'd race the blaster. Blaster=P.O.S.

I would take the Recon because it is less noisy and is also sort of sporty. It is pretty quick and can go almost anywhere.

The Recon wasn't to far behind the blaster in the whellying list in the march dirt wheels

Vote here! What ATV would you prefer? A Honda Recon or a Yamaha Blaster? Why? -thanks for your time

Posted by: recon98

I'd vote for the Recon too, for obvious reasons. Isn't this a bit like comparing apples and oranges? The Blaster is a full sport machine, while the Recon is a half sport, half utility.

i'd say a blaster. they are more lightweight, fun and easy to wheelie, and good jumpers. plus, there are way more mods you can do to a blaster (or any 2 stroke) to get going even faster. in a race it will beat a recon. it all depends on your needs though and what type of riding you do.

i own a blaster and here in argentina the police doesnīt say anything about drag races and riding in the streets, so i ride everyday and let me tell u something: the engine works perfectly and i ride it hard, so donīt say that every six mothns it need a rebuilt cos thats not true, and other thing, i raced a couple of times against honda recon and i can smoke it anytime, anywhere, anyway. if i were u i would get the blaster, its a better machine, u canīt even compare these two atvs, the honda recon was made for the countryside, the blaster is a sport racing quad, you get a 200cc engine whit 6speeds and manual clutch, the honda recon is a 229cc four stroke engine whit 5speed and automatic clutch, it stinks!!!! try to jump with that thing and then tell me. 98 Yamaha Blaster FMF PowerCoreII, FMF Fatty Pipe, K&N hi flow air intake, K&N Precharger, Boyesen Carbon power reeds. ps: Argentina rulez!
