Haha thats funny.

I think that top 10 list is stupid.
I own both and enjoy riding both equally.
Just depends wha type of riding i'm doing.

thats some funny sh!t..

i just like bikes because you can nail em and take off through the next world, but i do give my head the nod to quads, because of the year round use, and if you just want to stop or putt, a bike you cant do that.

#1,4, and 10 are all a$$ backwards. (chicks dig motocrossers:coolBR>
#3, you can slide a dirtbike around a corner if you know how to ride one.

#5, true racers don't want easier wins.

And #9, atv racing will never get coverage like bike racing.

BTW, I even like quads a little bit better than I do dirtbikes.

For me I have more fun on quads with my friends and trail riding and boozing but I get a rush with a db on a track or catching air.

Gota hand it to you...for only 5 posts, this was a good one. You got a good sense of humor, stick around.
I like # 8 the best.

i perfer atvs cuz i like running it all year round. plus if u got a couple of basket balls laying around u can make ur atv a boat. plus u can hydro plane which makes n e one look cool

you got #1 completely ass-backwards.

definetly. 75% of the trails around my place in shelton are for dirtbikes only. all they need is a 5-6inch wide rut of dirt and theyre fine. we need a much bigger trail to accomendate our machines. from my experience i think dirtbikes are a lot more safe. it's a lot harder to push a 375lb behemeth out of your way than a small bike when youve screwed up a jump and are in the air. and LMFAO @ not being able to use the word- d o r k

heres some reasons from douggust.com

TOP 10 REASONS TO BUY AN ATV INSTEAD OF A DIRTBIKE:
(Relax, dirtbike guys, this is just for fun...)

#1: There are more trails open to ATVs. (Dirtbikes are often banned due to the damage the tires do to any trail.)

#2: ATV's are better in snow and mud.

#3: There's nothing like power-sliding around a corner on an ATV. Do this on a dirtbike and you'll end-up on your head.

#4: Statistically, ATVs are safer. (If you wear a helmet and get an ATV that's the right size for you.)

#5: Competition in the ATV world is still very open. There's lots of room to make your mark. (Everybody and his cousin is racing dirtbikes...)

#6: It's easier to transport and carry 'stuff' on an ATV.

#7: When you're parked, your girlfriend can sit on the seat with you, and it won't tip over like a dirtbike would.

#8: ATV's can have a safety flag on them for visibility on the dunes and trails. Put a flag on a dirtbike, and you'll look like a d0rk oh my gosh!!!, why cant you say d0rk on this forum!!!!!!.

#9: ATV racing coverage and popularity will be exploding in 2004 and 2005 (due to the new participation by the major manufacturers).

#10: ATV guys get all the (best) ladies....

I will give you #6 and #7 The rest are shaky. Just try and imagine the roost, my paddle tired, safety flag equiped, CR 500 would throw at you on your blaster.

It's cool strongtyer, Just was humored by the thought that some one would call me and my cr500 d-0-r-k-y in the sand.. I really dont understand what the us vs them deal is all about. I think the quads percieved safety is a part of the problem . You dont hear about to many people putting their 11 year old on a cr500, but you hear horror stories frequently about some one putting their 11yr old on a banshee. The quad appears safe, the dirt bike doesnt. that is why the CPSC only regulates quads, not dirt bikes. You can do all those things you listed on a dirt bike it just takes practice, on a quad at lower speeds it is easier, much easier. Problem is when the quad gets up to speed, in my opinion the quad gets more unstable. The rougher the ground the worse the situation for the quad. It has to pick a line about 3 1/2 feet wide. Dirt bike 6-7". At the places I ride I dont even really notice the quads, they do their thing, i do mine.

I have owned both and like both but now days I would rather have a quad cause you can ride all year round. the only way your gonna ride a dirtbike all year round is to stud the tires and ride on the ice. there are pros and cons to both but I just prefer atv's over dirtbikes now but back when I was growing up I loved dirtbikes.

Thats crazy You cant use the word D-O-R-K On this site?
I like them both equally. They both have there strong points and no weak points. I can go anywhere on the bike and the quad is limited to the width of the trail. I can cruze through the sand on my Banshee but I'm alittle squirly on the CR 250 in the sand. On hil climbing I can turn uphill on the bike and turn around if I slip up. On the banshe its a lot more adventurous
I sold the bike and it was real easy to sell. They both kick keaster.

You Need a group hug bro.
Loud pipes save lives! Yes more pressure = more power thus the loud sweet sound of a 2 stroke poping and pinging through the air. You have parking areas? We have open desert.
Over growth is making Off road riding a thing of the past not us riders. Who but us do we bother out there???? I love the sound of a Thumper, new top end on a dirt bike poping. The smel of race gas burnning in the air. Guess I'm hard core. I still like them both.

one advantage to the quads here...

when i had my kodiak, my friends on their bikes constantly made fun of me for being so slow... kinda funny though. they occasionally broke down. and if i wasnt around they had a long walk.

but, when i was around, we threw the bike on my back rack, and they also rode back with me. that always made them shut up quick... especially when a chick was around...

quads are amazing, but the power supply u can get outa those dirtbikes is crazy, to bad its difficult to buy a quad outa the box with the power of a CR500 but i enjoy ridin on 4 wheels vs's 2, to easy to crash on 2 lol

heres some reasons from douggust.com
the highlighted text is my (strongtyer) opinion on each of these reasons

TOP 10 REASONS TO BUY AN ATV INSTEAD OF A DIRTBIKE:

#1: There are more trails open to ATVs. (Dirtbikes are often banned due to the damage the tires do to any trail.)

#2: ATV's are better in snow and mud. maybe true but i think atvs shine mostly in the sand

#3: There's nothing like power-sliding around a corner on an ATV. Do this on a dirtbike and you'll end-up on your head. you may be able to powerslide a bike but you cant do it the same like a quad

#4: Statistically, ATVs are safer. (If you wear a helmet and get an ATV that's the right size for you.) im not sure about statistics but i think that there are more atv deaths and most political organizations dont like atvs. why is that?!!!! anyone know?

#5: Competition in the ATV world is still very open. There's lots of room to make your mark. (Everybody and his cousin is racing dirtbikes...) mostly true in my opinion

#6: It's easier to transport and carry 'stuff' on an ATV. TRUE

#7: When you're parked, your girlfriend can sit on the seat with you, and it won't tip over like a dirtbike would. TRUE

#8: ATV's can have a safety flag on them for visibility on the dunes and trails. Put a flag on a dirtbike, and you'll look like a d0rk (oh my gosh!!!, why cant you say d0rk on this forum!!!!!!). not a big one. ive seem dirtbikes with flags but they do look better on atvs. doesnt really matter tho, does it?

#9: ATV racing coverage and popularity will be exploding in 2004 and 2005 (due to the new participation by the major manufacturers).

#10: ATV guys get all the (best) ladies.... -i wouldnt say thats a fact

ok. those 10 reasons are off of a different web site. www.douggust.com. i thought about that when i saw that and i was thinkin that wasnt right. i dont know if atv's being statistically safer is true either. they are just someones opinions. i personaly dont know all the much about riding trails cuz i do most all of my riding on my own land but i still figures more trails would be open to dirtbikes.

thats a good point about the kids riding quads. didnt think of that. i know you can do a lot of the same things on bikes but its still not the same. not like a dirtbike has to be able to do all the same things. i just like the feel of a quad. you have some good points.

I love dirtbikes and atv's the same amount. I started out on bikes so I will ALWAYS have a bike. I got started in atv's in 2001 so I am sort of new. I've been around all the bikes and atvs all my life since we own a Kawi dealership. On a dirtbike you can fly higher, and are faster. Lighter, and more powerful compared to an atv of equal engine size. I love hittin the jumps and berms hard on a bike. You are in more control on a bike. Atv's are great cause you can ride them all yr round. A dirtbike you can too but it sucks in the cold and when its muddy out. Atv's are a lot more comfortable trail riding. Its nice bein able to just sit on a quad and not worry about balancing and you can give people rides a lot easier. You can get stuck a lot easier on a quad though and its harder to get unstuck. Bikes don't get stuck as easily and are easy to get out. You can use atv's for work also since the utes have racks and some have four wheel drive. I will always own both bikes and atv's the rest of my life. Gives me somethin to do and gets me out of the house thats the main thing we all should be thankful for when it comes to dirtbikes and atv's. Thats what we all have in common no matter which you like better.

i have a yz80 and a cr200 and a z400 and a scrambler. my personal expirience tells me dirt bikes hurt! I have crashed alot more on my dirtbikes then on my quads. That yz80 I have seems like it puts out more power than my Z and it goes 10mph faster than my Z also. Dirt bikes are Bada$$ if you good at riding them but i think i like my z400 better. Another thing* My old 1980sumthin honda 200 dbike weighs ass much as my Z, and it hurts when it lands on your leg. O well i like both and i would never cut down on dirt bikes because i love watching them race. I am planning to go to a supercross at the savvis center in st. louis thats coming up, its gonna be awesome.

atvs are better because you can take your honey out in the woods and bang her on the quad which btw is real fun!!

I'm so happy to find an off road board that's ACTIVE, the ones on Long Island suck. GLAE874 is kinda right about the quad mentality around here, the majority of the people around here that ride them are morons.
