What do you mean by VVT?
That new GT is turning more HP stock than your cobra could with headers, cold air, and a couple other bolt on parts.
You all are crazy. The exterior of the '05 stang is sweet. The interior leaves a lot to be desired. I just wish they would have brought the center front of the hood more to a point like the Glassback concept and the late 60's mustangs were.
I just bought an '01 Bullitt this week. I got a heck of a deal on it. I do wish it was the new chassis instead of the old Fox chassis that is 25 years old like Bubba said. I have already started tweaking the 4.6 and I don't think they are near as greek as people think.

I didn't realize the new motor was variable valve. I thought it was just a mod motor. I guess I need to read up about it.
I actually bought my Bullitt for $7500. Salvage title but ready to drive. The holographic build # sticker on the strut tower is damaged and I am trying to find out what number it is from the dealer via the VIN. I am hoping they can help get a new sticker. I hear there is another holographic # sticker under the carpet under the rear seats.

Bubba, the resale of those 87-93 stangs amazes me. The guy I bought the Bullitt from had a '91GT sitting next to it. It needed a new drivers fender and a hood, and he was still asking $4800 for it. When I went by his house last night, it was sold. A real clean GT still bring $7500 which is what I gave for the '01 Bullitt with 27,000 miles on it.

For some reason I can't load pictures up onto my photo page. Here is a link to the pics:
Picture page
The pics of the Bullitt are on there along with pics of my CBR1000RR, and the asphalt drag bike that is in progress. Let me know what you think.

Thanks. I also think I have too many everytime I make a payment on one.
The sleeper look was the idea behind the Bullitt's. They used V6 bumpers, decklid, no spoiler, "plain" wheels, etc. The sidescopes and ground effects are special for the Bullitt as well as the upper quarter panel. Look at a regular GT and the little side rear glass comes down and back on all other mustangs, but comes forward on the Bullitts. Ford opted to upgrade the GT's standard parts with a FRPP/Motorsport intake, twin blade throttlebody, different computer, factory Borla exhaust with aluminum exhaust tips, bigger rotors, better Brembo red powdercoated calipers, heavier springs, Tokico shocks/struts, bigger swaybars, Tremec 3650 tranny (heavier duty than the GT's 3550), etc. The gauges and seat stitching look like it came from a 60's mustang and the aluminum shift knob and ring, door sill plates, door lock knobs, and aluminum pedals were also factory added parts.
I got your email but was waiting to hear if you needed both brackets or which side. It will be this weekend when I am able to get them pulled off. I thought your price was a little on the high side also. They aren't worth $25 for a few little odds and ends. Is there anything big you need off of it? If you just need the little parts, give me $10 to cover shipping.

I myself like the new Mustang, Im not a Ford guy but, it's a nice looking car.
I heard rumors that Chevy was planning on a throw-back Camaro. (I would like to see that, With the looks of the 67-69 models).

OMG!!!!! Thank you pendejo! I am so glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks the new Mustang is ugly. If companies want to bring back the old cars then that is what they need to do, not try to copy them in new style.

I am a chevy man myself, but the wife is a diehard Ford lady. She drives a beautiful and immaculate 93 Reef Blue Mustang GT. In my personal opinion this was the pinnacle year for the Fox chassis and the last year of the good looking cars. How many of you get caught looking at an 87-93 body style when it passes in front of you? Those cars also had bullet proof computers and motors. I will surely miss the good old (maybe not quite so old) days.

Just one of those things that makes you scratch you head I guess.

I like the new Mustang. Anything is better than the style that looked like the Pinto. I think the new Mustang looks like an old Fastback. Maybe a 1971?

I actually like the new look, not totally in love with it but in white with Shelby type blue stripes they look killer. Drove a GT also, they have very good power and handle well.
But, it's drive-by-wire which I don't like, and the VVT engine is pretty much hands-off too. I'll stick with my old Cobra, I can wrench on it all I want and build that pushrod engine with my eyes closed.

Drive-by-wire means there is no mechanical link between your gas pedal and the throttle body. It's done through a sensor and an actuator being told what the pedal position is doing. There are some aspects of this that can be undesireable, where the car is making decisions for you, i.e. "correcting" your pedal input.
The v-v-t is variable valve timing in the engine. It work wonderfully, but creates more of a hands-off unit. The 4.6 2 valvers like in the Bullitt are doing well and responding to new cams, heads, etc that are being developed. You can really make one of those things snort and are starting out with an inexpensive package, heck pick up a 00 GT for like 10 and start modding.

The only thing that makes the new mustang hard to work on is that people are affraid to try. Their very easy to mod and more programs are coming out to add to their performance. Their actually easier than the older V8's. With the older engines everything was unbolt this move that and replace this but with the new engines a lot of the tunning is done with a lap top. the new mustang has a sensor that prevents it from spinning but we have already changed this on a friends new gt by changing the program. when the car is new you can floor it as hard as you want but once the computor sences your spinning it takes over but like i said thats easly changed. The man with the gt took his to the track and ran a 13.52 and that was with just some program changes. I love the new shape. I plan on buying one as soon as I find a used Gt so I can paint it to match my 68 fastback.

For once I actually like the styling of a new Ford (the Mustang), they are much better than anything else Ford has designed in the past 15 years. And for comparison, the new looks in the GM barn are enough to gag a maggot, this coming from a die-hard Chevy fan.

WOW! i think the new mustang is nasty too! they should of made it look like the Saleen Mustangs, that was my dream car!!!!

those new powersucks have soooo many injector issues right now i would wait a year or two so they can get their bugs worked out. they look cool though, and when they are in good working order they kick the shat out of me and my duramax... less im in 4hi or not stock....

Since my favorite year mustang is '70, (my first car and still own it) I love the new design of the mustang. That 70 mustang of mine has been sitting over 20 yrs now. As you can see from my sig, I have a hard time parting with vehicles.

i am a chevy girl and i agree that the new mustang isn't all that great. But i do have an 04 GT and i love that B!tch! I think it will take some time to get used to the new stang, just like it took awhile for ppl to get used to the new silverado front end I hated it at first new i think its nice when you do it up right.

Wow, I just saw the new generation of Mustang and my god, what was Ford thinking? That has got to be the most retchid looking Mustang I've seen(next to the old Mustang2, that is) The thing just looks too futuristic to be a "muscle car". Anyway, I'm done venting now, I just get frustrated when I see a company destroy something that was once a beatiful thing. Now I truely dislike Fords' Cars, but the Powerstroke diesels are still sick!!!!
Posted by: pendejo
Yea, I heard that, but seeing one stomp on all these ricers around here, and even some respectable cars, while being nearly stock is very impressive!
Posted by: pendejo
I'm sure it does perform well, and I too am a firm believer in "form over function" but in my mind, one of the things that made the Mustang a Mustang was the way it looked. They've mixed and matched new and old and now it looks horrible. Oh well, not like I can afford one anyway
Posted by: pendejo
Probably a dumb question, but what does "drive-by-wire" mean?
Posted by: pendejo
kinda what I figured, thanks for the info! That is yet another reason I prefer the old school cars. Just about any idiot with a wrench can fix them. Not to mention the fact that they are much cheaper and easier to build the way YOU WANT, not how Ford(or Chevy, Mopar, whatever) wanted. I guess all these "high tech" developments are smart on the Manufacturer's behalf. The average Joe can't go out to his garage and do basic maintenence on his vehicle anymore, so he has to take it back to the dealer and they make even more money off you. I think I found a good career choice

The "Pinto Style" Mustang was the Mustang 2. Never heard of them until I saw one of my sister's neighbors had one sitting in his driveway, YUCK! I think the reason I don't like the new Mustang is because it looks like the fastback, which I never liked. Oh well, can't complain too much considering it will smoke my car in every imaginable situation.

Alky, you have too many cool toys man. I do like the Mustang though, kinda has the sleeper look to it. Did you ever get my E-Mail about the R parts?
Posted by: pendejo
Damn, I'm starting to like these Ford's now, don't tell nobodyBR>
I'll send you a PM about the parts.
Posted by: BigBaller
its pretty cool looking. It looks like Elanor from gone in 60 seconds.

I actually think this years mustang is the best design they have come out with in awhile. But I agree the late 80's to early 90's were the coolest. The new ones motors are not as beefy as before. I tell you what though i have driven a 99 cobra and wow was that thing a blast!
